I hope one day he is able to get his addiction under control and know that you are still there for him. |

It's hard to watch people make bad decisions and go down a slippery path. Maybe you will lucky and maybe this time it will be a wake up call. He is actually probably safer there than on the road drunk. |

Well, the bright side is he'll have plenty of time to work on his addiction in jail. I hope they offer him rehabilitation in there. Sounds like he's a good kid who needs guidance. I don't know why but I have a feeling everything is going to work out okay. |

As you know, I can completely relate. My oldest brother (2 years younger than myself) has been in prison for 5 years. He gets out the 28th. I have such mixed emotions. This is his 2nd time in prison, so if he gets in trouble again he'll fall under the 3 strike law in Texas. I can only hope that he's learned something this time. Both my brothers are alcoholics and recovering drug addicts. It's hard to watch them go through it. Like you said, though, they are 'big boys' and need to learn the hard way. I hope it worked for my brother this time and that it will for yours as well. |

Sometimes it's best for people to learn the hardway I guess. I have no clue why other then they are bullheaded ....I'm sorry it seems your brother is that type. My thoughts are with you and your family. I do hope he can overcome his drinking problem and one day put it behind him and better his self. |

My brother has gone down the same road with drinking and drugs. No driving charges because he doesn't drive. He is in the county jail looking at up to 5 years in prison. I hope your brother will learn and listen as well as mine. |

He should be in an Alcoholics Boot Camp until he is deemed worthy to come back to society. If he screwed up again the off to a community like prison where he gets to stay until he is hopefully old enough to understand actions/consequences. |

while he's in prison 12 step programs usually carry the message to those in there, and it can be a good way to get started. if he's got a year in there then by the time he gets out he could have worked all twelve steps and at a year it's alot easier to stay clean or sober. It works. I've got 14 months clean with NA...and i'm a member of H & I. those are the ones that carry the message into hospitals and institutions. |

I'm really sorry to hear about your brother and I hope he can get his act together. My son was killed by a drunk driver so it's very hard to have sympathy for someone that drives drunk but I do have sympathy for his problems and I hope and pray they are worked out. |

Ghost Rider, I'm sorry about the loss of your son. I was angry at my brother for doing this since I 100% disagree with drunk driving under ANY circumstance. Thank you all so much for your support. |

Rika, just support him and be there for him. That is what changes lives. What he is doing is self destructive and One person could make a difference. He needs his family. |
