It's been a good day today! :D
I went into town this morning with Mum. I mainly needed to get some ankle socks as mine are getting holes in the toes. So, I got 9 pairs from Primark.
I ended up buying another handbag. I shoulder strap one. I use a backpack style for when I push the wheelchair. Anyway, the shoulder strap one I've got , well, it's getting dust in a couple of creases and I've tried to clean it out but it won't budge! So, I got a new one from T J Hughes.
Tried to help my Mum buy a memory card for the mobile phone my brother handed down to her when he got an upgrade. It was only then we discovered that although we've got the same make of mobile (Sony Ericsson), because they're different models, a physically different size memory card goes in her phone; hers will be smaller. Anyway, we didn't like the prices in town so she's going to look online.
Mum bought two pairs of Per Una jeans from M & S which look really good on her.
We went into Danglers so I could get some more elastic bands for my hair. I took the item to the cashier who looked as miserable as sin, or maybe she was bored, I don't know but by the time we left she was smiling and laughing! It was Mum's fault - she started it. Oh, well, maybe it was me as well. Mum pointed out some pretty jewellery which my niece would like, "She said, guess who would like that?" I said, "Oh yeah, I know. Holly would," but realising how it sounded, I tried to elaborate, "That's Holly would not Hollywood, like the film place. Holly would, uh..." It really amused the cashier! I'm just glad we helped put a smile on her face.
I bought a PB Dean Koontz novel 'The Good Guy' from Waterstones with, you're not going to believe this, a voucher I was given from Mum for Christmas 2006! It's because whenever I've bought books, I've bought several from Amazon, totalling over £15 to get free delivery. This time I deliberately waited till a book I wanted was out in PB so I could get it. Though I love HB books they take up so much space! I'm praying that one day, the AmazonKindle will become available in the UK because the amount of space that will save in my house will be fantastic!
You know that stuff with vouchers, I don't know if it happens outside the UK but I got a £10 voucher but the book was £6.99. If I bought only that, I wouldn't be given the £3.01 change! So, I made another purchase - a magnifying glass because for Christmas my husband got be a box set of The Sims 2 Strategy Guides in miniature. I already wear visual correction but the text in these books was so small it was making reading a challenge for me so I bought one of them and it meant I only needed to add just 98p with the voucher for my purchase. The lady in Waterstones was very nice and helpful; I think she should get a pay rise.
Mum and I went to Starbucks for lunch. I had an egg and cress sandwich on wholemeal followed by a blueberry muffin (Mum also had a BBM). I also had a latte while Mum had a black coffee.
I dropped Mum off afterwards and I didn't get in until just after 3pm. I know my husband said, "See you this afternoon," but I don't know if he thought he'd see me that late considering I left the house just after 9.30am! All he said was, "Did you buy me something nice?" I said, "Of course I didn't, you said you didn't want anything." It's funny because my Dad asked my Mum exactly the same question when I dropped her off! LOL.
Well I'm glad I had a good day today because tomorrow I've got a stack of ironing to do! Oh well, c'est la vie!
