I bought myself a pack of smarties the other day... and just opened them now for my breakfast :p

and I am SOOOO disappointed!!! they used to have long round tubes with a plastic end which had a letter on... not only could you pop the tube and make the end bit fly off, you could also try and look through the plastic lid and try and figure out what the letter on the opposite side was!!! i did this all the time as a kid!!!

but now, they've changed the packaging so that they have no plastic lid... so no more popping it across the room at people.. and no more guessing game... how boring!!!

AND WHERE HAVE THE BLUE ONES GONE AGAIN?!?!?!?!? and why dothe brown ones lack any colour!!! ARGH it makes me almost angry!! just because they dont want to contain artificial colouring any more!! now they're rubbush!!! bring back the artificial colours!!! and dont buy them for your kids if it makes them hyperactive!!!!!!!!!! thats the whole fun of sweets!!!!!

whats your thoughts?

rant over :D have a nice day x

ps, smarties in the UK are small skittles shaped chocolate sweets covered in coloured candy. check out the links noted in the comments :)

Date: 11/9/2007 6:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 16845    I bought a couple bags last weekend cause they were dirt cheap. There hasn't been any changes to them that I've known. What I got now, is what I was getting over 10 years ago..*Shrugs*
Date: 11/9/2007 6:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 46320    I LOVE Smarties, and I bought a bag the other day, and they were the same as always. Sorry you were bummed about yours. Be Good...
Date: 11/9/2007 6:26:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 19869    haha maybe they've only changed in England? Can you send me some??
Date: 11/9/2007 6:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 62983    The Smarties in Europe are different from Smarties in the States. The Smarties in the states are what I've seen here in Austria called Fizzers. And Smarties that I've seen in Austria and London are little candies that sort of look like Skittles, but I don't know if there's chocolate or fruit flavor on the inside.
Date: 11/9/2007 6:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 62983    http://www.smarties.com/ and http://www.candydirect.com/bars/Smarties-Nestle.html - Here is the difference.
Date: 11/9/2007 6:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 36646    I've been eating smarties for the past 20 years and don't recall them ever being in plastic tubes....odd......
Date: 11/9/2007 7:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 61847    those are different then they are in the states, I must say.
Date: 11/9/2007 7:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 22433    They only come in boxes here in Canada (and occasionally tubes around christmas time which turns into a piggy bank when you're done eating them). And also, for those who don't know, Smarties in the states are Rockets to us. Those little chalky candies in a plastic tube :P
Date: 11/9/2007 9:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 37101    Smarties in America have been the same for a long time. They're dirt cheap, chalky sweet tables that come bound in a roll of plastic. -
Date: 11/9/2007 9:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 64498    Ahhh how our times have changed huh Eddy? - Bunny
Date: 11/9/2007 9:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 54444    I totally agree with your post. It's not only smarties it's getting to be "change everything if it is fun, good or successful." Wht??????????
Date: 11/9/2007 11:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 53052    here smarties have always been in boxes(they are the same here as in the UK chocolate covered with candy coating.. taste better then M&Ms)
Date: 11/9/2007 11:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 21266    AHAHA EDDY ;P:P:P LOL you have the best topics ahahaha i love(d) smarties up until i discovered maltesers lol
Date: 11/9/2007 12:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 63011    Your smarties sound like M&Ms. The ones in the states are hard candy. I don't like them much here. The smarties there in the UK sound a lot better! LOL
Date: 11/9/2007 5:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 26303    Maybe it is a sign that you are growing up, and that smarties are not exactly breakfast food. LOL. What used to taste great for breaky when you were a kid doesn't always taste so great when you get older. LOL. I used to be able to eat choccy for breaky, now it makes my tummy turn. LOL.
