Bush DUI vs Clinton pot smoking.

what do you think? Bush had a DUI on his record back in 1976. He admitted, when asked, if he'd done anything bad growing up. He said he'd made mistakes in his life, but he's proud to say he's learned from those mistakes. Clinton, when cornered, couldn't confess that he'd actually smoked pot. He chose to say he'd smoked pot, but didn't inhale. I leave it to you intelligent people. Who do you think is worse, a candidate who fessed up to a DUI, or a president who couldn't even fess up to smoking pot? Remember, this is for discussion, not a suggestion to try either one!!! Just for fun. wintercat

Date: 11/4/2000 7:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 6317    Clinton did confess to smoking pot. By stating that he "didn't inhale" he was relieving some of the tension by adding humor. A very good tactic. A DUI is also putting more people in danger. But on the other hand, everyone does make mistakes, and as long as it wasn't an act of treason or embezzlement, I don't think Americans should over react. *Pisces*
Date: 11/4/2000 7:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 15394    I can remember waaaaay back when.... it mattered if the integrity of the candidate was in question.... it mattered that no candidate had ANY past all.... I remember when our government and leaders were respected.... Clinton Happened!!! Jungabel
Date: 11/4/2000 8:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 15157    Clinton always has to get cornered to admit to his past...don`t forget Clintons attaction to ol Monica Lewinsky...(you think Clinton`s a chubby chaser?) hehehe (but I hear she supposaly lost weight) And besides who cares if the presidental canidate used to smoke pot? As long as they don`t do it anymore! *~KiKi~*
Date: 11/4/2000 8:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 600    IMO Bush seems to be a lot more honest than Clinton ever was. As for the DUI, I don't condone drinking and driving now, but when I was younger I also did it. I'm not proud of it and I am amazed that I wasn't hurt and neither was anyone else. So much of the time tragedy strikes and someone ends up hurt seriously or dead. That being said, if that's all that is in this man's past, I see no reason to condemn him for it. If we were to be honest, many of us would admit to doing it during our teenage years, or maybe after that. Of course I do realize that I am not a presidential candidate, but they are human also. As Pisces has stated, we all make mistakes.
Date: 11/4/2000 8:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 12072    I'm so sick of politics I could PUKE!!! Oh well, pretty soon elections will finally be over. Anyways, I hope Bush wins, but that's just cuz I don't believe in gun control. people kill people. God bless! Luv, ~*Becky*~
Date: 11/4/2000 8:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 3909    The past is the past. Clinton should have told the truth right away, but what else can you do? Everyone makes mistakes...
Date: 11/4/2000 8:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 13729    Bush didnt really "fess up". It came out in the papers, so he had to admit it. Several monthes ago when asked about any arrests, he didnt say anything about it....
Date: 11/4/2000 9:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 10866    Let's just elect a nun for Pres.
Date: 11/4/2000 9:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 3648    We all make mistakes, no one is perfect.....but I do know Bush said he has been sober for over 14 years now....but as for Clinton, he had a sorry excuse....but ppl learn from their mistakes....
Date: 11/4/2000 9:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 14708    I don't think that it matters what anyone has done in the past, just as long as you learn from your mistakes and are not doing it now. Ares
Date: 11/4/2000 9:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 3263    Well, shucks, everyone makes mistakes. And people are people, we aren't perfect. So I can't be mad at them, I guess...now if they had KILLED someone, that would be different.
Date: 11/4/2000 10:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 15070    Well there is only one himan who was ever perfect & HE isn't running for president!..........ladyspirit_guide

Date: 11/4/2000 10:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 17028    I admire Bush for admitting his past, that shows that he isnt afraid to admit his mistakes and that he is honest, Clinton on the other hand is a pathological liar, he cant fess up to anything. DREWPOO
Date: 11/4/2000 10:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 1459    I think that the government should legalize pot. I do not smoke it now but it's no worse than alcohol. I did smoke some in my high-school but that was years ago. I believe that alcohol impaires someone much worse than a hit off a joint ever would. People are constantly getting pulled over for drunk driving because alcohol impaires your vision beyond belief. I hope that no one drinks and drives and smokes pot and drives but if it had to be one or another, i would want the guy who smoked some pot to be on the road opposed to some wasted guy behind the wheel. well, that's just my opinion..
Date: 11/4/2000 10:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 7341    DUIs are serious offenses. I totally agree with JV....I'd rather have a mellowed-out pot smoker than an irresponsible drunk driver.
Date: 11/4/2000 2:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 4144    maybe he really didn't inhale!!!!!
