"Is She More Beautiful In the Moment or In the Photo"

Is a woman more beautiful in the moment lived-
Or in a photograph taken?
Is she lovelier captured and encased in pixels or celluloid,
Or in that precise instant when she spins around in her chair,
And sees you there;
Or how about when she looks over her shoulder in the morning from her bench-
In front of the vanity mirror in the bathroom,
Half clothed, half combed, half asleep,
Or does she become embellished in the memory of that perfect moment-
When you barge in through her front door with bottle and glass in one hand,
And flowers and passion in the other-
She had left the door open for you, but that look of knowing surprise...
Her image can be captured in glamorous photos, glossed over,
Drenched in furs with nothing underneath but her bare naked smile...
Wait let me hold that thought for just a moment,
But how can I argue against that time when her lips parted from mine-
While her eyes Welled up with joy, no cameras, no flash bulbs, no cell phones,
Nothing but those-big, beautiful eyes that I will never forget,
And yet, sometimes, looking at old photos, moments captured, often pretentious,
Sometimes ill-rehearsed or ill-timed, but tangible-
Saved in a jpeg or in a frame,
That can sustain, that can remind, that can bring a smile where once-
Perhaps there was none.

I sincerely appologize if this disturbs your read, I assure you it is not intentional & USM is always the best place to post irregardless of minor quirks.
Date: 10/16/2007 5:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 53961    Nothing can replace the real thing such as a hug. But, a photograph for memories that are stirring is indeed a welcome site to jar the time, place and feeling that warms the spirit. This is just plain awesome and gives me goosebumps and tears are welling. Thank you for sharing your precious gift with words with us.
Date: 10/16/2007 6:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    You have a good eye for detail, my friend. Some pictures of some people, I never saved, but those picts are burned into my memory, forever. Women, ahh yes...hehe...I love it when they strike a pose and play the room. Even if there is only an audience of one. Great writing, BIGO Write on.....
Date: 10/16/2007 7:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    This is totally awesome BigO..I love it, photographs capture the moments of times long gone but brings back some wonderful memories...nothing like the here and now with the one you love, and when they don't expect you to be looking at them, in pensive thoughts...ahhh just lovely...

YOUR SMILE BEQUILES MY HEART TOWARDS THE UNENDING HEAVENS. A DAY WILL HOLD ITS OWN HOUR, WHILE MY MIND HOLDS YOUR FACE.........REMEMBER YOU SENT ME PICS MANY YEARS AGO. GREAT JOB BIGO

Date: 10/19/2007 11:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 18261    I would say that she is genuinely beautiful in the photo. Why? In the photo, her beauty is eternal, while the incarceration of the moment provides you with the option of endless repition. The beauty of the moment is fragile, intangile and ephimeral. I like to clarify I'm referring to the simplicity of her physical beauty. Now I ask you Big-O, are you? **Interesting job!!!**Bells
Date: 8/5/2009 7:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 18261    While reading this gem almost two years later, I'm not sure if I agree with my comment of 2007. Perhaps the lady would be more beautiful in the moment lived as the memory of such would only elevate her beauty to an unrealistic level? I also love this one...truly!
