"Freeze prisoner!" A voice from behind. A distorted voice. I slowly turned to see a..man..maybe..standing there pointing a rifle at me. "I said freeze! Give me your line designation and your sector!"
It was six feet tall, shaped like a man, wearing a smooth black hemet and a pair of dark goggles. Over it's body it wore a uniform...urban camo from head to toe, it's feet covered with a pair of tight black boots. It's hands were gloved.
"Prisoner, answer me or prepare to be terminated!" It's voice was garbled, as if it was being processed through some sort of voice masking device.
"I don't...I don't understand.." I said. My split lip stung as I moved my mouth to speak those words.
"Prepare to be terminated," It walked toward me and raised the gun to my face. I turned and ran, slipping and falling once on my hands, but I jumped back up and took off. It gave chase, I could hear gunshots ringing out, louder than anything I had ever heard. I cried out, trying to cover my ears as I ran down the street. Gunshots bit the ground where I had stood only moments before, and bullets flew through the air, whizzing past my head, I continued running.
Behind me I expected to hear the shouts of the man chasing me, but I heard nothing. He simply ran after me, firing his weapon as if he were a robot. Each shot coming closer than the last. I ran short of breath, I didn't have a chance. But then I saw it, to my right. An alleyway between the two buildings. I ran for it, practically diving into the space---and collided with a pole. It took me a moment to realize that it was a pipe that ran the length of the space between the buildings, and was big enough for me to walk on. I climbed up and took off running down the rusted metal pipe. I continued to run, it seemed to go on forever, and I was out of breath. I slowed down, gasping for air and holding my chest. It was a moment later that I found out running through such a tight space was probable a mistake, as a bullet struck my leg. It was like a hammer had struck my calf, a sledgehammer. I screamed and fell face first onto the pips, my head striking the metal hard.I could feel blood pouring out of the wound. The tapping of the man's boots coming toward me down the pipe. It was over.
