Screen Pressing Shirts...-Jestr

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to make shirts myself, like nice, clean and professional looking ones.

My car club has a show coming up and some of us can't get our typical pressing company to make some before the show and I want to surprise the guys. I've read almost every DIY site and i keep reverting back to my punk years when i would simply use a paint brush and fabric paint with a cardboard stencil but it always looked well....punk. i was thinking maybe i could use a spray on paint or something.

anyone have any ways of doing this without going through the pain of typical screen pressing?

Date: 8/15/2007 9:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    try your local craft store for "iron on transfers" that you can print on though i think you need a certian type of printer/ink i know i've seen them
Date: 8/15/2007 10:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 21203    If you use the iron transfers make sure you read the directions (there is an option in your print area - that you will have to print the item backwards) I think its called mirror. It works great.

You could make something in paint or photoshop, print it on iron-on transfer paper then irn it on to your shirt. YOu could use the iron on letters that youcan get at any fabric store. OR.... you could look at scren printing supplies at a craft store and see if that's within your budget P>S> there's lots of stuff you can use to make a block for the block printing idea ...wood, styrofoam meat trays (easily imprinted with just a pencil), those foam sheets (in the kids craft section, ususally), cut into different shapes and glued to a backer make great rubber stamp type tools. You could also do mono printing; which is where you paint something in reverse on a piece of glass, then make one good print (and several lesser quality prints) to your shirt by laying the shirt over the paint and rubbing with a brayer.

Date: 8/16/2007 5:49:00 AM  From Authorid: 36901    I buy blank iron on sheets from Wal-Mart. They're really easy to use and look pretty good. You just print whatever you want like you would a normal picture, only use the transfer paper instead of regular or photo paper.
Date: 8/16/2007 5:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    if you do the iron on... don't forget to print in mirror image mode or your transfer will be backwards on your shirt ;o)
