the x-ray glasses ( from the magic shop ) WP

All of the kids would tease young 14 year old lester. he was small, and told weird jokes to try and fit in.

they even made up a song to pick on him. " lester, lester, one day he will be the court jesture."

lester really liked a girl named laurie whom also went to the school. they all picked on her too.



one day lester had wandered into a magic shop. he had been wanting to learn a few card tricks, he still wanted badly to fit in. he looked around the dark yet flashy store, his eyes were wide at all that he saw. there were masks on the walls, magic wands, wigs, fake blood, everything.

then he saw the ad for "the x-ray glasses"... be the first to see what everyone is trying to confide. buy one now and watch them run and hide!

lester liked those words he read on the brightly lit cardboard. he found a kooky old man with a silly beard that twisted in a rubberband at the end of the counter. "sir, may i see those x-ray glasses please?" asked lester with a grin. "ofcorse, young man." replied the odd man.

they bothed walked to the desplay, the old man pointing all the way. "i think we're all out." was said to lester. "hold on, let me look in the back" continued the man.

soon he had returned with the x-ray glasses that lester was so interested in. the glasses themselves did not look like the one in the ad. they were alot thicker and oldfashion. lester tryed them on. "what do you see?" asked the old man. "WOW!" lester responded, "i see this store. yet now put into light..." alot of lights !"

next lester looked at the old man, although this time he was young and strong. "hey, look at you!" laughed out lester. then lester put his hand up and saw it was big, REAL BIG!. the sale was final. indeed lester was happy. one final word the old man spoke as he put the x-ray glasses in the bag. " please remember these are magic and not a toy!" lester agreed, and went on his way.

as lester left the magic shop he realized that he was late for school. he ran as fast as he could to get there. as he arrived he saw some of the bullies gatherd around in the field next to the school grounds. they were picking on laurie, telling her she was ugly. lester stompped his foot. they saw him and walked over to laugh once more. one guy grabbed the bag out of his hands. he opened it up... there was nothing inside. lester twisted around and the x-ray glasses were on his face!

he could see everyone for what they really were. one boy looked like a troll, another had the face of a beaten and scorned old man, the third bully was the worst, he looked like the devil himself, with protruding fangs and eyes of death and torment.

all at once they lunged towards him.

lester raised his fist into view, again it was as big as it was in the store. he lashed out a punch, one after the other. the bullies all hit the ground.

laurie saw lester protecting her. she ran to give him a hug. lester still had the glasses on and she was more beautiful than ever. he reached out to her, and as she embraced him lester could see his big strong hands grip her so tight that she was crushed....to death.

lester pulled the glasses from his head and threw them to the ground!

he ran to laurie. "what have i done?" he shouted aloud. next he turned around... one of the bullies had on the glasses... the one that looked like the devil himself.
