The most beautiful and evasive ghost in Chicago is a captivating, blue-eyed, flaxen-haired girl in her late teens. On those occasions when she chooses to be seen, she wears the ling, off-white ballgown and dancing shoes in which she died....in 1934. And she loves to dance at the Willowbrook ballroom.

Her name is Mary, or more precisely, Resurrection Mary, after the cemetary in which she is restlessly entombed, Resurrection Cemetary, in suburban Justice, IL. No one knows her real name, or is has never been revealed. Old cemetary records do indicate that a Polish girl of about Mary's age and description is buried there.

Resurrection Mary died in an automobile accident in 1934 on her way home from a night dancing at the old O. Henry Ballroom, now renamed the Willowbrook Ballroom. For the past 50 years her apperances have become accepted by residents in that southwest section of Chicagoland.

Date: 6/26/2007 1:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 15070    I actually know people who have seen her! One Couple was MUCH older (in their 80's), when the Husband told me the story of the time they were driving past Resurrection Cemetary, and saw a Woman in White walk right THROUGH the wall and into the Cemetary! My Dad was a Skokie Policeman, and he heard through the "grapevine" that the Police were called all the time to investigate a Woman wandering near the Cemetary. This is a very active haunting.
