EUGENE, Ore. – Declaring fires set at a police station, an SUV dealer and a tree farm to be acts of terrorism, a federal judge yesterday sentenced the first of 10 members of a radical environmental group to 13 years in prison. Stanislas Meyerhoff ,26 has admitted to being a member of a Eugene cell of the Earth Liberation Front known as The Family, responsible for more than 20 arson fires from 1996 through 2001 in five Western states that did $40 million in damage. Meyerhoff was involved in fires at a Eugene police substation, a Eugene SUV dealer, an Oregon tree farm, federal wild horse corrals in Wyoming and Northern California, and a ski resort in Vail, Colo. He also helped topple a high-voltage transmission line tower in Oregon.
I hear other environmentalist state the Use of "Eco Terrorism" in this case is Just wrong". I think this judge called it right, and it is beyond belief that someone has not been killed yet.
If these kinds of acts are not terrorism then I don't know what is. I guess some environmentalist feel in someway calling this eco terrorism will hurt our cause. I don't believe it will hurt our mission one bit. You see, many so called Environmentalist are Elite and think the American people are stupid, "hicks in the sticks" We need to be told what to do and when to do it. Yea... Uncle Al Gore is one of those Elites. The only Environmental work he really does is pay his 36,000 dollar yearly electric bill and jeting around in his Gulf Stream polluting as much and more than anyone else, telling us we need cut back and use public transportation, sell our big vehicles. Do this and do that!!! Blah. Blah. Blah.
Just like the rest of the Hollywood Elite, they only give "Lip Service" to the environmental cause. These people run around running their mouths about subjects they have no knowledge of. What you hear them spewing is Media "Talking Points", same talk over and over until it makes me sick. 10 years ago they did not give a crap about the environment. Its in fashion now, its cool now..... Just like the government..... Lip Service to calm the Stupid Hicks in the sticks. Its a fact, the earth is in a warming Cycle. Is man responsible? Is the United States a contributing factor? Extremely small compared to the rest of the world! Mount Saint Helens eruption is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the entire population of the US in the past 10 years.
We are a highly industrialized nation, we have become a superpower because of our technology and our form of government. Still the United States pollutes less than any other Industrialized nation in the world. If we are to make a positive, progressive step in solving our environmental problems, then it will have to start at the "Grass Roots" level. We have to develop new transportation technologies and rid ourselves of dependence on foreign oil. I might add, if you did not already know.... Once we ween ourselves off this mid-eastern oil the problems in that region will go away.
Don't Expect the power hungry Democrats and Republicans to do anything. Their agenda is big government,Power and control. Its time the American People hold these politicians feet to the fire.
Somebody needs to say it and I did.
