What I won't say

I'll admit that I felt it
And it made me cringe.
I won't tell you that I cried
Even if I might have.

It's not a sharp feeling anymore
Just a dull ache that lingers
Somewhere between my ribs
And it sometimes makes me nauseous.

It's hard not to miss you
But I can safely say I don't.
Because it's easier to disregard a stranger
Than to pretend I ever really knew you.
