LOOK FOR A NEW JOB BEFORE YOU GIVE TWO WEEKS NOTICE!!! I have been burned by this before. I gave two weeks notice thinking I would find a new job before the two weeks was up, but as soon as I gave notice, they told me not to come back that they didn't need me. ReeRun |

I have a friend who worked at Best Buy and also had a lot of problems with the management going on powertrips. I think you should start looking for some place else. |

I love Best Buy, but it is going down hill by the minute. For example, I was looking for those classic episodes of Sesame Street from 1969-1974 and asked for assitance. Now you know when you ask for assitance it seems when the employees see you oming, they automaticly are busy or look the other way. I have stopped doing a lot of business at Best Buy. Really a shame too because I would usually spend around $175 a month on movies. I completely understand why you want out. Good luck hon. (((Big Hug))) and Happy Birthday! |

I agree, you're only getting 10 hours a week, then its definitely not worth the hassle. |

see people hate commissioned sales but when people are making commission atleast they help the customer. best buy doesnt do commission sales so noone cares cause theyre still making $10+ an hour if theyre sales |

One of the big motivations in my life to get a better education, leading to a career, was a series of crummy jobs. I've been there with the bad manager before. This is just like God thumping you on the head and shouting "Wake UP". So, before you quit, figure out what career you really want, get the education/skills to do that work, then enjoy your new life. |

The smart thing to do is find another Job before you put in your notice. I have been let go a few times after I gave my notice which put me in a bind. Good luck |

If you are worried you are going to be fired then quit with a 2 week notice. It is better to leave a business with a good standing incase you ever have to return. That manager won't always be there. Not to mention you can go over their head to their supervisor and tell them the threats you have heard. If you give a notice I would at least talk it out with the manager after giving the notice, that way they can not fire you. If they tell you to go ahead and leave with that notice in their hands they still can't fire you, they can just cut your 2 weeks notice short and that is their doing. You can still file a complaint against them. If you really look around, you may not be the only one having problems. That's just the way some people can be when they get into higher positions. They don't realize they still have to follow rules. Good luck whatever you do and know that you do have rights. Also if you do quit and you give them as a reference, they are not allowed by law to tell any prospective employer why you were let go or why you quit. If they do then that is an infringment on your rights and they could pay big time for that. You could also file a lawsuit against them for slander and they will not want that. If you do have to threaten just make sure you have an attorney to give a copy to. Trust me, I have been through all of this before and if you need someone to talk to, I can give you all the gorey details of what to do and say to save you from any harm to your work record. My email is on my profile if you need it. Take care!!! |
