St.Patricks Day Dinner Is GROSS

  Author:  6915  Category:(General Advice) Created:(3/14/2007 6:18:00 PM)

Every year my mom has a St.Patricks day dinner at our house on the Sunday following the holiday. We serve corned beef and cabbage. The problem is the cabbage is served cooked...and plain. We have potatoes....plain. And carrots...plain. Its horrible since the corned beef is good but everything else is BORING. I want to liven things up a little but keep the dishes the same. Does anyone have any good recipes? What do you cook for St.Patricks day? (If you celebrate it...we're not even Irish!)

Date: 3/14/2007 6:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 10245    here's the deal: you add vinegar to the cabbage; butter, salt & pepper to the potatoes. << authentic ;o) If you can't handle that, you grab a loaf of seedless rye and make a sammie out of the corned beef
Date: 3/14/2007 6:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 10245    *malt vinegar
Date: 3/14/2007 6:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 64365    Well, you could put your own seasonings in the potatoes and cabbage. If your mom doesn't like to season her food, why don't you just season your own after it's on your plate.

Date: 3/14/2007 10:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 26303    Saute cooked cabbage in melted butter over medium heat, add some chopped bacon. Are the potatoes with their skins on? If yes, cut a cross in each cooked potatoe, add some butter, little salt, top with sour cream. Melt some honey and drizzle over the carrots. Mmmmm, is dinner ready???????????
