Is it leaking a whole lot? Cause if it is..maybe it can be fixed. I'm really not sure how to clean up oil. Maybe you can just double the cardboard so it doesnt leak through it? |

I have replaced every gasket in my car in the past couple of years, lol, I'm not going to pay to fix it again, hopefully by the end of the year I'll be getting a new car/ suv- a Ford Escape or Mercury Mariner- haven't decided yet. My car's a '98 Grand Am with almost 193,000 miles on it. I'm not putting any more into it than I have to lol. |

I work at a 7-Eleven with a gas station and we use absorb all (which is essentially kitty litter) to clean up gas spills and such. It takes about an hour to completely soak up.. depending on how much you need to soak up of course, and it's safe to sweep up and toss it in the trash. |

Can you get that at a Lowe's or Home Depot or at an auto store, HJ? |

kitty litter works well just be sure to sweep it up you can try getting one of those under the bed tupperware type containers(long and wide but not high) and park your car ontop of that every day to collect the oil that drips |

...if the oil has sunk into the concrete floor of your garage, you can either paint the floor with an epoxy floor paint or use some muriatic acid (available at most home reno stores) on it and etch the concrete. This stuff is potent so you'll need a mask and will have to ventilate the area well. You might also want to remove any metal items that you care for that are close as the airborne fumes will possibly remove paint & rust and will also cause bare metal to rust. It also acts as an excellent rust remover but you have to flush the metal and dry it immediately, then apply a primer. |

With that many miles, I don't blame ya Kelsey! I wouldnt bother fixing it either. My old jeep was like that..but it leaked not just drips but lots and lots of oil. |

try some bleach to try and remove the stain (I'm not sure if it would work). Then try and find a pan that is like a cookie sheet that is big enough for you to drive over and still catch the oil if you pull up too far. |

that is if it is a slow leak and won't overflow over the cookie sheet. My dad used to use I think it was an oil pan, which go on the car, but put htem under it so the oil wouldn't leak onto the driveway |

go to the auto parts tore and buy a can of spray Brake Cleaner. Spray it liberally on the area where the leak is, and then cover the area with either kitty litter or actual automotive grade quick dry absorbent. the automotive grade is basically kitty litter, but is not dust free like many kitty litters are and thus will absorb the oil better. Then, like Ghost lover said, use an old cookie sheet instead of the cardboard. |

If its a car that old and with that many miles, I wouldnt be too concerned about parking it on the street- however, if you want to keep it in the garage you can continue what you're doing with the cardboard, but put a sheet of plastic or trash bag down first - that way the oil seeps through and onto the trash bag and allows the cardboard to continue soaking it up without transfering it to the floor. |

Hey I like that idea Ben. It is an older car- but the paint is still pretty good and it has a nice stereo in it and even though I can remove the face, I just don't want to take any chances. |

O say put some plastic over the cardboard and the some kitty litter to hold it down, won't take much or go buy a cheap latex backed rug and put under the car. If its a rental, take it back for that reason and get another car. Good luck. |

Sorry,I misread, you live in a rental!!!I would also put a plastic shower curtain or something like that under the rug as well. |
