Makeup, makeup.....

I have been looking at the 'finer' cosmetics lately (Stila, M.A.C., SB etc) none of which are sold by me, except M.A.C. I went to the makeup counter today in a local Macys and picked a very nude shade of lipstick (Myth if you care) I tried it on and asked the sales associate, decked out in plum and black eyewear, if the color was too light. She said "Are you going to be wearing that with eye makeup? Because if so, it will look nice." And I felt too dumb to say "Lady, I AM wearing eye makeup." Anyways...

I found this website while searching for a product review, since I don't buy w/o reading others opinions first. The entire website is a forum dedicated to makeup and fashion. I began reading posts and realized these people are INSANE. They post weekly 'hauls' or purchases that consist of well over 10 items (items ranging from $14-$50/ea) They also post weekly empties and throwaways..I don't know about you but I hardly ever use up all my products (makeup, soap, shampoo, etc) These people buy entire lines of products and I just don't understand where it all goes. How can you possibly go through 10 eyeshadows in any reasonable amount of time? I do not know any of these people personally but could pick one out of a crowd. Im assuming these people are the ones who are not necessarily attractive but are fashionable in their dress. Then you look at their face and its like they got run over by a M.A.C. truck (hahaha..no pun intended)They have it all..the blush and lip liner and dark red lipstick. Their eyes...well you can't actually see their eyes..but you do see ovals of black charocal and swipes of olive, plum, or possibly pink shimmery color somewhere between where their eye should begin and where their brow ends. And if these people happen to be attractive, you can't tell because of the makeup coverage. Its not a love or even a hobby, its a sick obsession. Enough said.

Date: 2/24/2007 9:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 14464    I don't understand people like that either. I know if I used make-up daily that I still could not use it up within a week. I've seen girls glob it on and I think it really makes them look worse when they use it that way. With how expensive it can get you'd think they'd use it in moderation as well. I had a math teacher who told the guys in the class that if you ever want to see what you'll wake up next to go to the grocery store to pick up a lady. I thought it was funny, but so true!
Date: 2/25/2007 1:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 59418    I don't get that either :S I have one of each thing I need..I guess I'm a bit boring when it comes to makeup - Mainly because it's so darn expensive!
Date: 2/25/2007 4:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 35720    I like make-up. But I must agree with you about MAC associates.. they're ridiculously overly made-up.. they always wear entirely too much blush, too.
Date: 2/25/2007 5:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 28848    A lot of people really overdo the makeup. And it look horrible. What surprises me is that they dont seem to realize that it looks horrible..lol. Or maybe they just think that it looks good. Afterall, beauty is in the eye of the beholder..jeesh...
Date: 2/25/2007 6:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    I looovveee makeup... but even I have never been that bad about being wasteful... and I like to look like me (but better I like to have lots of it around, but find it's mostly a waste of space... I'm a creature of habit and once I find a look I like, I tend to stick with it for a while. Since I've discovered the mineral makeups, I can see my collection thinning out nicely as I'm able to just toss stuff I know I'll never use again (like the multiple bottles of liquid foundation
Date: 2/25/2007 9:59:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 6915    Mercury..same here. I have a drawer of things I bought that didn't look so good or that I just don't use daily, which is why I can't imagine buying 'in bulk' when I already have so much I don't use!
