I hate to tbe the bubble buster here but poetry.com does that with just about everyone who enters a poem..then they make you buy a copy of the book your poem is in. Ive had them try that on me alot, and so have alot of other people on this site  Dont agree to anything or else you'll owe them money.  |

I am with Shai and dont want to burst your bubble..but... I submitted a poem to them once and the turn around was very quick..woohoo... a letter in the mail saying exactly what you just described... I didnt believe it, so I did a quick..."see the cat wear the hat" poem for kicks to check it out and I left it full of mispellings and everything... a week or two later I got another letter in the mail saying my poem was being entered into a finalist drawing thing... so yeah... they are a scam  |

Though, there are plenty of legitimate sites that do publish, so you should definitely look around. Basically, you should get money, not the other way around. And even if they don't always give money, they'll usually give you a copy for free because your work is in there. So don't give up. |

FIrst of you need to realize that it is never easy to get published - if you are really serious about it, go to amazon and buy the book "writers market" - it has a MASSIVE index of agents/publishers/contests..etc..etc... I find it extremely informative - |

Writers Market is a really good book. Gives you the place to mail your work, what they expect, how you send it, what genre they do, whether they take people without agents, first time writers, and so on. |
| Date: 2/10/2007 4:02:00 PM ( Admin ) Search Stories on USM for Poetry.com.. You have to pay Poetry.com to publish your poem in their book they don't advertise it. You have to order the books and pay for them yourself. It's only for you to buy their book. You can get Dreamer to make you a book with all of your poetry in it for a lot cheaper. Also USM will publish your poems for nothing and you get a lot more visibility from them and you retain your copyrights. |

keeping in mind that it's not "publishing" but print and bind" we will do that, we also will be getting our company up and running again in the near future at which time we'll consider you for publication   |

just to clarify, if you pay, we'll print and bind it, which is NOT publishing. If you want to be published by us, once we get up and running we'll take you into consideration (and it won't cost you a cent!) |

Lol, so much for that bubble. I had only been published once before when I was in High School. I won some kind of contest. I'm not so excited about this anymore. But thanks for your information, I had no idea. This is why I love you guys.  |

You know what. It's a scam. I did this years ago. They want to publish your poem and then turn around and give you a DISCOUNT on the book it will be in. Please don't fall for it.  |
