LETTER To The American People by President of IRAN

  Author:  24924  Category:(News) Created:(11/29/2006 1:40:00 PM)

Noble Americans,

Were we not faced with the activities of the US administration in this part of the world and the negative ramifications of those activities on the daily lives of our peoples, coupled with the many wars and calamities caused by the US administration as well as the tragic consequences of US interference in other countries;

Were the American people not God-fearing, truth-loving, and justice-seeking, while the US administration actively conceals the truth and impedes any objective portrayal of current realities;

And if we did not share a common responsibility to promote and protect freedom and human dignity and integrity;

Then, there would have been little urgency to have a dialogue with you.

While Divine providence has placed Iran and the United States geographically far apart, we should be cognizant that human values and our common human spirit, which proclaim the dignity and exalted worth of all human beings, have brought our two great nations of Iran and the United States closer together.

Both our nations are God-fearing, truth-loving and justice-seeking, and both seek dignity, respect and perfection.

Both greatly value and readily embrace the promotion of human ideals such as compassion, empathy, respect for the rights of human beings, securing justice and equity, and defending the innocent and the weak against oppressors and bullies.

We are all inclined towards the good, and towards extending a helping hand to one another, particularly to those in need.

We all deplore injustice, the trampling of peoples' rights and the intimidation and humiliation of human beings.

We all detest darkness, deceit, lies and distortion, and seek and admire salvation, enlightenment, sincerity and honesty.

The pure human essence of the two great nations of Iran and the United States testify to the veracity of these statements.

Noble Americans,

Our nation has always extended its hand of friendship to all other nations of the world.

Hundreds of thousands of my Iranian compatriots are living amongst you in friendship and peace, and are contributing positively to your society. Our people have been in contact with you over the past many years and have maintained these contacts despite the unnecessary restrictions of US authorities.

As mentioned, we have common concerns, face similar challenges, and are pained by the sufferings and afflictions in the world.

We, like you, are aggrieved by the ever-worsening pain and misery of the Palestinian people. Persistent aggressions by the Zionists are making life more and more difficult for the rightful owners of the land of Palestine. In broad day-light, in front of cameras and before the eyes of the world, they are bombarding innocent defenseless civilians, bulldozing houses, firing machine guns at students in the streets and alleys, and subjecting their families to endless grief.

No day goes by without a new crime.

Palestinian mothers, just like Iranian and American mothers, love their children, and are painfully bereaved by the imprisonment, wounding and murder of their children. What mother wouldn't?

For 60 years, the Zionist regime has driven millions of the inhabitants of Palestine out of their homes. Many of these refugees have died in the Diaspora and in refugee camps. Their children have spent their youth in these camps and are aging while still in the hope of returning to homeland.

You know well that the US administration has persistently provided blind and blanket support to the Zionist regime, has emboldened it to continue its crimes, and has prevented the UN Security Council from condemning it.

Who can deny such broken promises and grave injustices towards humanity by the US administration?

Governments are there to serve their own people. No people wants to side with or support any oppressors. But regrettably, the US administration disregards even its own public opinion and remains in the forefront of supporting the trampling of the rights of the Palestinian people.

Let's take a look at Iraq. Since the commencement of the US military presence in Iraq, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been killed, maimed or displaced. Terrorism in Iraq has grown exponentially. With the presence of the US military in Iraq, nothing has been done to rebuild the ruins, to restore the infrastructure or to alleviate poverty. The US Government used the pretext of the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, but later it became clear that that was just a lie and a deception.

Although Saddam was overthrown and people are happy about his departure, the pain and suffering of the Iraqi people has persisted and has even been aggravated.

In Iraq, about one hundred and fifty thousand American soldiers, separated from their families and loved ones, are operating under the command of the current US administration. A substantial number of them have been killed or wounded and their presence in Iraq has tarnished the image of the American people and government.

Their mothers and relatives have, on numerous occasions, displayed their discontent with the presence of their sons and daughters in a land thousands of miles away from US shores. American soldiers often wonder why they have been sent to Iraq.

I consider it extremely unlikely that you, the American people, consent to the billions of dollars of annual expenditure from your treasury for this military misadventure.

Noble Americans,

You have heard that the US administration is kidnapping its presumed opponents from across the globe and arbitrarily holding them without trial or any international supervision in horrendous prisons that it has established in various parts of the world. God knows who these detainees actually are, and what terrible fate awaits them.

You have certainly heard the sad stories of the Guantanamo and Abu-Ghraib prisons. The US administration attempts to justify them through its proclaimed "war on terror." But every one knows that such behavior, in fact, offends global public opinion, exacerbates resentment and thereby spreads terrorism, and tarnishes the US image and its credibility among nations.

The US administration's illegal and immoral behavior is not even confined to outside its borders. You are witnessing daily that under the pretext of "the war on terror," civil liberties in the United States are being increasingly curtailed. Even the privacy of individuals is fast losing its meaning. Judicial due process and fundamental rights are trampled upon. Private phones are tapped, suspects are arbitrarily arrested, sometimes beaten in the streets, or even shot to death.

I have no doubt that the American people do not approve of this behavior and indeed deplore it.

The US administration does not accept accountability before any organization, institution or council. The US administration has undermined the credibility of international organizations, particularly the United Nations and its Security Council. But, I do not intend to address all the challenges and calamities in this message.

The legitimacy, power and influence of a government do not emanate from its arsenals of tanks, fighter aircrafts, missiles or nuclear weapons. Legitimacy and influence reside in sound logic, quest for justice and compassion and empathy for all humanity. The global position of the United States is in all probability weakened because the administration has continued to resort to force, to conceal the truth, and to mislead the American people about its policies and practices.

Undoubtedly, the American people are not satisfied with this behavior and they showed their discontent in the recent elections. I hope that in the wake of the mid-term elections, the administration of President Bush will have heard and will heed the message of the American people.

My questions are the following:

Is there not a better approach to governance?

Is it not possible to put wealth and power in the service of peace, stability, prosperity and the happiness of all peoples through a commitment to justice and respect for the rights of all nations, instead of aggression and war?

We all condemn terrorism, because its victims are the innocent.

But, can terrorism be contained and eradicated through war, destruction and the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocents?

If that were possible, then why has the problem not been resolved?

The sad experience of invading Iraq is before us all.

What has blind support for the Zionists by the US administration brought for the American people? It is regrettable that for the US administration, the interests of these occupiers supersedes the interests of the American people and of the other nations of the world.

What have the Zionists done for the American people that the US administration considers itself obliged to blindly support these infamous aggressors? Is it not because they have imposed themselves on a substantial portion of the banking, financial, cultural and media sectors?

I recommend that in a demonstration of respect for the American people and for humanity, the right of Palestinians to live in their own homeland should be recognized so that millions of Palestinian refugees can return to their homes and the future of all of Palestine and its form of government be determined in a referendum. This will benefit everyone.

Now that Iraq has a Constitution and an independent Assembly and Government, would it not be more beneficial to bring the US officers and soldiers home, and to spend the astronomical US military expenditures in Iraq for the welfare and prosperity of the American people? As you know very well, many victims of Katrina continue to suffer, and countless Americans continue to live in poverty and homelessness.

I'd also like to say a word to the winners of the recent elections in the US:

The United States has had many administrations; some who have left a positive legacy, and others that are neither remembered fondly by the American people nor by other nations.

Now that you control an important branch of the US Government, you will also be held to account by the people and by history.

If the US Government meets the current domestic and external challenges with an approach based on truth and Justice, it can remedy some of the past afflictions and alleviate some of the global resentment and hatred of America. But if the approach remains the same, it would not be unexpected that the American people would similarly reject the new electoral winners, although the recent elections, rather than reflecting a victory, in reality point to the failure of the current administration's policies. These issues had been extensively dealt with in my letter to President Bush earlier this year.

To sum up:

It is possible to govern based on an approach that is distinctly different from one of coercion, force and injustice.

It is possible to sincerely serve and promote common human values, and honesty and compassion.

It is possible to provide welfare and prosperity without tension, threats, imposition or war.

It is possible to lead the world towards the aspired perfection by adhering to unity, monotheism, morality and spirituality and drawing upon the teachings of the Divine Prophets.

Then, the American people, who are God-fearing and followers of Divine religions, will overcome every difficulty.

What I stated represents some of my anxieties and concerns.

I am confident that you, the American people, will play an instrumental role in the establishment of justice and spirituality throughout the world. The promises of the Almighty and His prophets will certainly be realized, Justice and Truth will prevail and all nations will live a true life in a climate replete with love, compassion and fraternity.

The US governing establishment, the authorities and the powerful should not choose irreversible paths. As all prophets have taught us, injustice and transgression will eventually bring about decline and demise. Today, the path of return to faith and spirituality is open and unimpeded.

We should all heed the Divine Word of the Holy Qur'an:

"But those who repent, have faith and do good may receive Salvation. Your Lord, alone, creates and chooses as He will, and others have no part in His choice; Glorified is God and Exalted above any partners they ascribe to Him." (28:67-68)

I pray to the Almighty to bless the Iranian and American nations and indeed all nations of the world with dignity and success.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

29 November 2006

I'd urge anyone who wants to go beyond the American Media to get at the truth of the whole issue to check this out: The MEDIA ...Peace, Propaganda, and The Promised Land:

Date: 11/29/2006 4:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 56780    its amazing that people of all nations see whats wrong ... and only "some" of the americans don't!, or probably they do, but are so hard headed to change their minds, and feel its an obligation to go through what their government is doing, through better or wrose, kind of like marriage! ... katrina, homelessness, poverty, and domestic violence deserve the money being spent overseas ....
Date: 11/29/2006 5:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 63026    You know its funny. He was democratically elected by the people. I agree with him completely.
Date: 11/29/2006 5:32:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    You want to laugh and cry at the same time? Go check out FOX news website, the pinnacle of American stupidity, there you will see idiotic comments regarding this like:

"President George W. Bush is a leader and a man of integrity." Say WHA??

Why people would think a person who has run several companies into bankruptcy; got America into a Civil War based on lies and destroyed our credibility around the world.... is a great leader, well, it just blows my mind. And another stupid remark from a FOX watcher/reader:

"we are educated, unlike your nation, and
will not be fooled by your big long educated words (that someone else told you what they mean
because you obviously have no idea what they mean)" Jeez, I could write a book on the ignorant that wrote that.

Date: 11/29/2006 7:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    I watched a heartwarming video from human rights watch...you guys would love it. It's about a young girl who was hung because she was sexually promiscuous, which happens often in Iran. They hang gays for being gay. but, this guy is concerned for the Katrina victems..I'm touched, really I am. Ahmadinejad was also involved in the taking of the hostages...but he IS only looking out for the USA, what a great guy. It's estimated that 85 percent of the IED's that kill our soldiers are from Iran...yeah, I wish he could be OUR President.
Date: 11/29/2006 7:21:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Kelly, I hear you loud and clear. I mean it; this guy is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO freaking saint by any stretch of the imagination.

I would say that NEITHER country....Iran or the US.....

Neither greatly value and readily embrace the promotion of human ideals such as compassion, empathy, respect for the rights of human beings, securing justice and equity, and defending the innocent and the weak against oppressors and bullies. And,

However crappy the Iranian government may be...I'd like to ask this:

Is there much in that letter that you WOULDN'T like to see answered honestly by the US administration? ?

Date: 11/29/2006 7:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    The letter wasn't written to me, it was written as propaganda purposes to the left who eat it up.
Date: 11/29/2006 7:27:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Remember how serious, sincere, and all that BUSH was about all the "war on terrah" stuff? Dead serious and sincere. NOW....

I actually think the Iran President is sincere in the letter.

Which isn't to say there's no cognitive dissonance. There's a lot of that. It's just that people can genuinely THINK they're on the side of justice, fairness, peace, and liberty while in ACTIONS...their ACTIONS show their being much more horrific than their opponents. This goes BOTH WAYS. See Stalinism or neoconservatism for comparison.

Date: 11/29/2006 7:36:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    "propaganda purposes"? Oh please. Whatever the reasons, Kelly, for his writing it, is really not the relevant point here; it is the fact that he DOES make some very good points. There ARE many facts intermingled in there. "Left eats it up". Again....oh please. Do you have anything else in your freaking vocabulary but "left" , liberal, or anti-american"? It's old, and it is silly. CLUE: VIOLENCE DOES NOT SOLVE ONE DARN THING! The entire mess has to do with EVERYONE.....on this planet, Kelly. That stupid cowboy "yer either for us or against us" DID NOT work, and will NOT work!
Date: 11/29/2006 7:43:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Is anyone else out there embarrassed to despair with our idiot President running around all over the globe

completely in denial? I mean, c'mon;

Bush's National Security Advisor, Stephen Hadley talks about
Iraq is now in a "New Phase", rather than a Civil War. "New Phase"? These turkeys should be working for Proctor and Gambol, not in our goverment.

Date: 11/29/2006 8:27:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    The Iran President does seem to be able to speak with intelligence and clarity, you have to admit. Listen to Bush and it seems lately as if every fifth word was "ta".

"The turrists attacked the mosque ta incite violence ta destablize the government of Iraq. We have ta continue with what we are doing instead of giving in ta the turrists". Ye gads,

I used to like it better when he refered to insurgents and tourists as "folks", as in: "There are some folks in Iraq who would think we ought ta leave."

Boggles the mind how this half-wit, hillbilly nutburger becomes the leader of the most powerful, richest nation in history at a high point in it's influence, only to then go on to start one of the stupidest wars of the past 100 years, fails to even come close to nabbing Osama, oversees an administration rife with scandal and corruption and ignores the very founding principles of that nation simply because he can get away with it.....Oh, mercy help us all. Frightening. Fruitcakes on both sides, all thinking "God is on my side", with itchy fingers and looking for a fight; with no brains and no one willing to sit down and be reasonable.....are going to cause the utter destruction of ALL mankind.

Date: 11/29/2006 9:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 56780    Kelly, if you think hanging sexually promiscuous people and gays in Iran needs to be solved and taken care of, then let me assure you that it will never happen ... Iran is a country with religion and so is 90% of the middle east, which is something the US doesn't have and will probably never have since people immigrate here for freedom, hangings are punishments for those who commit sins .... while the Katrina victims committed no sin, they were victims of a tragedy and thinking about them and praying for them is the least any person with a heart could do!
Date: 11/30/2006 1:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 8024    I beg to differ prince ... there is a great deal of religion here in the usa.. just not the kind of religion that says chop his arm off if he steals .. but anyways ... I still can't say I'd want the country of iran to have nukes ... no matter what this guy says ...c
Date: 11/30/2006 4:10:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    "just not the kind of religion that says chop his arm off if he steals". CC, what about a religion whose Holy Book (Bible)says things very similer to the Muslim's holy book. Like for example, in

Luke 197 ==this parable admonishes Jesus’ followers to round up those who reject his teachings and execute them. It is difficult to see how this unambiguous call for vengeance differs substantially from an Islamic Jihad. After all, isn’t that what the Islamic terrorists were doing when they attacked the World Trade Center? Weren’t they dutifully executing infidels who refused to accept the teachings of Mohammed?

Date: 11/30/2006 4:16:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    And this one>>>>>>"When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear away many nations ahead of you: the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. These seven nations are all more powerful than you. When the LORD your God hands these nations over to you and you conquer them, you must completely destroy them. Make no treaties with them and show them no mercy. Do not intermarry with them, and don't let your daughters and sons marry their sons and daughters. They will lead your young people away from me to worship other gods. Then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and he will destroy you. " (Deuteronomy 7:1-4 NLT)

Date: 11/30/2006 4:22:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    (Jesus speaking) "Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. For I have come to set a man 'against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's enemies will be those of his household'". (Matthew 10:34-36 ) AND THIS IS BUT 3 examples; there are tons of scriptures in the Bible commanding much worse than chopping off an arm, CC.
Date: 11/30/2006 4:36:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    "can't say I'd want the country of iran to have nukes..." You know what, CC? It seems to me (and most of the rest of the world's nations) that a country ought to not be so darn hypocritical; they ought to make sure THEIR OWN house is tidy before they go about trying to tell another how to clean up, or run anothers household. You might want to do some thinking about what exactly is the meaning of "terror", and set out to learn more about just WHO might the terrorists be. Incidentally, did anyone bother to check out the link I gave?

It really will clearly show the OTHER side of that which is kept well away from the American people. Always, it is best to look at something from BOTH sides of an issue. The Israeli/Palestinian situation is the HUGE elephant in the room here, which American's do not, will not, and might I add......are not allowed to see the OTHER side.

Date: 11/30/2006 5:38:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    This IS a big world; with BILLIONS of people, and there must be....MUST be communication and attempts to sit down and discuss ideas, and ways to compromise and or iron out differences. People seem to have seperate constructs of interpretations for religious things and nonreligious things; different INTERPRETATIONS and misunderstandings of expressions or words.

Just Threatening, saber rattling, and beating the war drums do NOT work! Never will.

Please, we as a nation need to lose a bit of the arrogance and the hubris of thinking that WE are perfect, always right, and are always the good guys ....IOW, thinking our you know what don't stink. We need to shut the heck up a lot of the time and LISTEN.....at least LISTEN to what the other guy is saying; then talk about it; and try to come to some sort of common understanding; some common ground.

Date: 11/30/2006 5:41:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    There's lots about Iran's president I don't like; don't quite understand, but I've listened to what he has to say; studied his voice, mannerisms, words, and TRIED to see where he is coming from. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is very intelligent, very worldly, very serious and very good at politics.
He's right about a lot of the things he says about the US, particularly it's foreign reputation and current lack of policy. It is clear to me (from watching him many times) that he does do his home work; he does study. Yes, we need to be very cautious.....carefull, with what he says....but we do need to LISTEN.

Date: 11/30/2006 5:42:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    I've also studied GW Bush.....endlessly, speeches, background, and anything and everything since 1999, to the nth degree. Bush is NOT at all what he appears to be to his loyal followers. He and his co-horts NEVER studied up on the Arabs, the Iranian's(Persians), the differences in the people's of the Middle East; and the various religious sects; etc. Heck, they never even knew; never got a clue about the Shia's, and the Sunni's, never even cared; just like a huge bumbling idiot BULLY ....came in with screaming fighter jets dropping bombs and blowing up stuff. Ye hawww! Shock and awe......yeah, the "good guys" killed them some "A-rabs", some "turririst". LOTS of them.
Bush and this guy are both rather nutty to me; always talking like preachers with their religious talk; and I have a hard time believing that Ahmadinejad

represents the majority of Iranians just as I have a hard time believing that Bush represents the majority of Americans.

Date: 11/30/2006 7:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 56780    Sorry CC i think you misunderstood me ... i mean a state religion. The US constituion doesn't say the US is a Christian country, therefore courts don't use laws from religion, while in the middle east there are islamic courts that judge by the islamic law.
Date: 12/22/2006 8:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    propaganda plain as day as this guy I'm sure does NOT speak for all of them. They want to kill us, read the Koran, you think the bible is upsetting? LOL, dig further.
Date: 8/23/2007 1:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 63400    Wow! I think this was very well written.
Thanks for sharing.
