That is completely silly, but I guess some will do anything to save a buck or two. You won't find me out there waiting, or even shopping tomorrow, though. |

Me either, Eddo. I can't stand crowded stores and malls; avoid them like the plague. I tried to think of ANYTHING that would make me do something like that and I can't . Heck, I can't think of anything that , even if it was FREE, I'd sit outdoors overnight for. |

well a lot of the sales are extremely good when they open. I would never wait outside like that, but I do understand wanting to get the best deal ever. |

I've been hearing about people hanging around best buy and every other place waiting to get their hands on the new playstation 3. It's crazy, sitting in the cold at night, camping out, waiting on an over-priced game system. I can't even stand going to walmart when the holidays roll around. It's madness! |

Oh I've done it and would love to do it again lolol. You save more than a buck or two if you are after somethign worthwhile, but it is a mad house and people do get nasty, luckily I never ran into the jerks I see on tv and hear about. |

My husband and I went to Best Buy one year. We didn't wait outside long unlike some of the people that were camped out there. We were out there long enough to just walk into the store, but when we went to purchase our stuff, we waited in line for almost 3 hours, I kid you not. |

Im not that crazy but I've seen one thing that I couldnt believe :P. Last week I had to get some things at Target and there were people camping out outside. I thought maybe it was either a protest or an employee strike or something because they had chairs and everything. No signs so I was like 'huh' and ignored it. The next day I went to a dif Target late at night and again people camping out but this time there was a sign: the line for the Nintendo Wii starts here. So apparently the first group of people camped out 2 DAYS ahead of the release... |

I don't understand doing that, but then again, I have a social phobia and the crowd would freak me out, so I guess that has something to do with it. lol. That and I like my sleep too much to get up for the early bird stuff. But some people really jump on those things. Anything to save a buck... |

Heck no!! I've seen it, but I won't do it. I'm sure the deals are fantastic, but you know, there are going to be Holiday sales and Early Bird specials and Saturday sales and what not from now until Dec. 24th, and starting again Dec. 26th. So as far as saving money goes? Today's not the only day to do it. I LOL at their camping out in front of Best Buy... at least camp out in front of a store that you can one-stop shop. |

And the only reason I would sit outdoors over night would be if a store promised me and my own personal invited list of people "you guys will be the only ones in the store for an hour or two this morning" and gave us REALLY good deals. Then I'd sit outside with my family over night. |

The deals are really good. Plus you have those early bird specials. The numbers on this day are especially important for retailers, Wall Street-wise, so they'll do whatever it takes to lure people out to shop. You have all these discount retailers like Walmart and Target trying to outdo each other, and you get all these really cheapo deals. However, I am much too busy sleeping off the Turkey from the day before, so no I've never been out myself. I am a big fan of the day after Christmas sales, however. |

Well well well...guess what guys? Looks like I'm rather forced to go out into the shopping madness. *groan* And no, it can't wait. My refrigerator totally went kaput. I had a guy come out and he said it is done for; shot...not fixable; and he added: "Go get a new one". So, got my track shoes on; took a shot of brandy; and here I go to Lowe's or Nebraska Furniture Mart. Yeah....I'm so thrilled. Ugh |

The traffic was brutal; masses of people everywhere. I'm fried. Found a refrigerator I liked and will pick it up tomorrow. Yeah, it was on sale for $700.00 . Big deal. riiight. Doh, I had to throw away a lot of stuff. It was a mess. There were fuzz balls underneath that fridge when the guys pulled it out. I mean, who cleans under their fridge? Ain't no way I could move a 400 lb fridge anyway. Water everywhere. I farmed out some stuff to a friend's house; and got it all cleaned out. After getting home, I got on the phone with Miss Priss. She really bust my sides with her funny one liners. Yeah, got me in a real happy mood which I sorely needed after today. |

I went back over and reread all y'alls replies; and it got me to thinking. See, I don't have kids, so therefore I'm sure I might feel a bit different about this topic IF I did. Kids are expensive; and they really like and often request things for Christmas that cost a lot of money. I remember last year, a cute little red-headed boy about 9 yrs old came up to me and it was his birthday. I was so smitten by this sweet , good natured child, and ask him what he'd like for his birthday. (oh dear, I had no clue). He smiled and said something about a GameBoy something-or-other. I had no idea what he was talking about, so I said: "Sure, honey, whatever you want"; and off we went to the store. I had no clue what I was in for. We get to the store and went to the electronics thing-a-ma-gigs department. I ask him to pick it out and I'd get a sales person to help. When he brought it to me, My eyes bugged out. I had NO idea those things cost so much! Yikes! It was around $130:00 (somewhere in the area). Well, I HAD promised him he could get anything he wanted.....right? So, I got it for him; he was one thrilled little kid......but....it taught me a lesson to find out about what something IS....and or the cost, before promising. Yeah, I suppose in cases where you have kids; you need something; and money is really tight....yeah...who knows if I'd be camping out at a store or not. But right now, as it is, I'm kinda like what Karma Killer said: I'm a bit of a princess. |

I would never do that but a couple of years ago, I was at the store by 6 AM (their special day after thanksgiving sale began at 5 AM- special hours) although their regular hours opened at nine or something. Anyways, when I got there, EVERYTHING was gone. All the deals and specials. Thought I was doing it right but I am not competetive enough to camp out with all those people just to save a buck! |

I'm one of those who gets in, gets what I want, and gets out....I think those people who DO wait in line like in your post must really think what they are after is something they can't live without, so more power to them...though I don't understand it...I'll let them...(smile) Nani |

thinker, I have kids & doubt there is "deal" that is going to make me go out in the cold over night for hours waiting on a store to open.. my luck I would get to it & put it in a buggy, turn around to pick up something & my buggy would be gone or someone would try to take it from me... there isn't anything worth getting in a physical confrontation about... (material that is) you mess with my family & that is a different story. |

one reason i really just loathe holiday shopping is, there is always just a crazy passel of folks with a cart, and or additional family/kids, that are militant and rude, banging into people, pushing, shoving, bumping carts, cars, snaking things, etc. makes me crazy. i hate hate hate people violating my personal space. |
