A Warning About.....

My room is quite cold in the fall and winter monthes due to poor installation of my windows. I use a small space heater to heat my room but I don't leave it on when Im not present. During the night I turn the setting to 'fan' because I like the sound of it, it helps me fall asleep. Numerous times in the past few monthes I have woken up to the dial being turned all the way to cold, which makes the fan shut off completely. My parents swear up and down that they didn't touch it and I know my pets couldn't have moved it. I ignored it because it didn't bother me too much.

This morning I woke up and my heater was off. I turned on my lights and found the plug completely disconnected from the wall. I asked my parents and they had not been in my room. I could have assumed my cat or dog knocked it out but the plug and cord were laying ON TOP of a small pillow chair in my room. There's no way my animals could have unplugged the heater and placed the plug higher than the socket. Im taking this as a warning to buy a new heater. It may have caused a fire. I appreciate the warning but its still creepy to think about...

Date: 11/8/2006 10:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 62579    Yeah,it sure sounds like a warning of some sort.
Date: 11/8/2006 11:19:00 AM  From Authorid: 62887    i had something like that happen with my space heater...i didnt really pay attention until the darn thing sparked when i plugged it in
Date: 11/8/2006 2:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 44237    It is smart for you to take this as a warning. Yeah, just go buy a new one that would be safer.
Love and Peace,
Kathy

Date: 11/9/2006 2:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 24673    Could very well be a warning and it's good that someone is looking out for your well-being.
Date: 11/11/2006 6:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 47932    have you ever walked in your sleep? Did you get up in the night at any time to go to the bathroom? If you walked around in the room in the dark or in your sleep you could have steped on the cord and kicked the cord out with your other foot. This could have caused the cord to fly up onto the pillow I dont know how long the cord is but it could have happend that way
Date: 11/11/2006 11:28:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 6915    Ive never sleepwalked and the heater was near my window on the far side of my room, no reason to ever go there...and no actual way to walk around the heater since the cords pretty short.
Date: 12/8/2006 9:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 64365    It could have been your Guardian Angel keeping you safe.
Date: 12/15/2006 2:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 63319    First off, please don't assume I am preaching, 'cause I'm not, but having a running heater in a room, unassisted, at night is a fire hazard. Oh, God even the mere sound of what I just said sounds too much like something my father would say. Eeek!!! ( that's the sound you make when you are scared, sounds like a long "E" sound or if you are saying eat with a "K" on the end but without the "T" Anyways, great story. Peace, Love and Happiness, Sabiebaby!!! P.S. sounds like you have a ghost on your hands. Some people just attract stuff like that. Keep up the great work.
