Wow thats a lot of abortions, but to think if all of those children were born to unloved or unable parents it would be so much sadder |

I'd have to agree with Author 64095. Although I would not suggest it to anyone. I'm not for or against abortions I'm for a womens right to choose and I hate that since others don't like it they try to take our rights away. That can actually go for anything though. I've known girls too that have done it and it's not the easiest thing for them to do, but it is what is right for them at the moment. You can't judge someone until you've been in their shoes. |

What I find sad is that "natural abortion" (miscarriages) happen in 3 out of 10 pregnancies (that may be an old statistic -- I heard it years ago) and to choose to do what may have occurred naturally, seems to me, puts an incredible strain on a woman's pyschological well being. Think how many bright, young people we may have in the world today if abortion wasn't so prevalent and thought of (apparently half the time) as birth control. God Bless. |

Ghost, I think that women should be made fully aware of what abortion involves. Dr's offices and pro-abortionists do not correctly explain it, they make it sound like a simple procedure that will gently and lovingly remove their child out of their body when in reality it involves, chemicals, burning, breaking, and smashing. |

That pretty much just sucks. Those numbers, while disturbing, are also not that surprising. To be honest, after I started working in healthcare, I really lost all sympathy for unwed teen mothers and other women on medicaid because they got pregnant without the means (or a husband) to support themselves or their child. It makes me sad and all I can think to do anymore is to try and ignore it because it's getting worse instead of better. The other thing I do is make sure I'm never in that situation. |

still if they know or not what they are getting into they still should have the right to choose what they want and not what others want for them. Beags I don't understand you, my sons father and I were together when I had my son and I still had to get state medical assistance. So just because you are with someone does not mean you have medical. Also between the period of you getting kicked off your parents medical plan and getting a job where you can get your own what do you expect peopel to do? Are we all suposed to just suffer with disease because we can't afford to go to a doctor without insurance? I find it very offensive that people have to odasity to tell others how their lives should be lived. We live in a place where everyone has the same rights and too many people out there try to take them away because it offends them or is wrong to them. A lot of things and people offend me, but I'm not out trying to take away their freedom. |

Ghost, people do tell each other what rights they have and don't have. Its sad that a baby, as small as it is, does not have the right to live or die. :0/ |

in the first month all it is is an egg which dies anyway if not fertalized. The people I've known to get abortions usually do it within the first month when they first find out they are pregnant. I don't agree that people should use this method as a birth control, but I like having my options and hate that others want to tell me I what I should or should not do with my life. If you don't agree with it or like it then oh well don't have it done. Somking kills hundreds of people a year, but do you see them taking away peoples rights to smoke? People buy guns and kill others with them, but you don't see the right to carry a fire arm being taken away. |

Ghostlover- people who need assistance because they have absolutely no other means still could decide it's not the right time to have a baby. Sorry- I used to be a little more sympathetic, until I started working in a hospital and realized just how often single girls have babies. Heck, I'd love to have a kid, and I enjoy the intimate part of my relationship. But we don't have the money for a kid, so we're not planning on one. And if we didn't have the money for protection, or one of us didn't want to use it, the intimacy part would be gone until we decided to be mature about it. Now, for the people who do use protection (correctly) and still end up with a mistake, I have a little more sympathy for. And I also have a little more sympathy for the people who are too old to be on their parents' insurance/don't have a job yet... but you'd be shocked at how many younger girls (who are plenty young enough to be on their parents' insurance- 15, 16, around that age) are on government assistance. I don't know if it's because their parents won't help them out, but it's frustrating. Why do my tax dollars have to pay for a kid when her parents won't do it? I don't have an irresponsible daughter... |
