My husband scares me 1/2 to death on a regular basis... not by jumping out and shouting "Boo!", but because he makes sudden appearances out of the blue.
He has always wondered how it is that I can't hear his size 13 clodhoppers, carrying his 200 lb frame, approaching. He'll show up in the livingroom, start to speak, and I jump out of my skin because I didn't know he was there until he spoke.
Last week, my mother in law was in the hospital. Her roommmate was a Cherokee woman carrying quite a bit of additional baggage. MIL asked her why she never heard her moving around, never heard her get out of bed, walk across the room or anything.
She told mom that she was Cherokee, and they move with the wind.
I guess that explains it. Maybe I need to learn to listen to the wind ;o)
