Florida Earthquake - David/Fearfactor

That's right, I along with other Floridans along the west coast felt what was a registerd 6.0 earthquake. Reportedly it was felt as far as way as NC. There was no reported damage, and no injuries. Florida Earthquakes are rare. Even more rare then snow. The last reported seismologic activity in Florida occured in 1952. The last traceable snowfall in my area was in 1989, and in fact, it snowed in the Miami area in 1979. It's possible that there might be another afershocked occuring within the next 48 hours. I'll update it, if I feel anything....

When I first heard and felt the tremor, I thought maybe it was the Space Shuttle, as we've gotten sonic booms before from a launch. The shuttle is actually in space now, and didn't realize it since there was a launch-delay from the last tropical storm (Ernesto) that rolled through.

Never know what may happen in life.

David/Fearfactor

The last reported on in my area was when I was in high school, and I was on the soccer field so I didn't even notice.

Date: 9/10/2006 10:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 53900    I didnt feel a thing but Im on the east coast. Interesting. I guess the snowfall thing is different all over the state but our last snowfall over here was like 3 maybe 4 years ago I think. It happened really late at night and it was just a dust...didnt stay on the ground for long or anything
Date: 9/10/2006 10:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 44960    This was not a Florida earthquake. This was a Gulf of Mexico earthquake. The earthquake was a 6.0, it was centered 250 miles west of Tampa, Fl in the Gulf of Mexico. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/usslav.php

Date: 9/10/2006 11:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 37150    wow. Living here in Cali we haven't had one in a while let alone that large *knocks on wood*. That size quake here would've caused so much damage. I'm glad it didn't cause injuries or damages. Thanks for sharing with us.
Date: 9/10/2006 11:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 29532    What's even more odd is, 3 years ago in the winter moths we had aftershocks reach us all the way here in Wisconsin! It origionated somewhere in IL. I didn't even know IL had plates unr it ntil then!
Date: 9/10/2006 11:43:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28071    The Earthquake was felt in Florida, Priss, and the epicenter was in the gulf, yes? Florida felt the shockwaves therefore was apart of it. David/
