WOW, I have panic attacks all the time and they honest to god make you think you're dying. (Atleast mine feel that way) You could have had a heart attack? That's scary, I wonder what triggered the panic attack? |

I only have attacks when I'm around a large group of people I don't know. Social Anxiety Disorder I think is what it's called. I wish I knew what caused that stuff. It's not fun. Hang in there |

Are you on any medication? If not I hightly suggest speaking with your primary care physician and getting on a prescription. I am on klonopin and an anti-depressant. These two help band aid the attacks, but I get them every now and then. |

I am on medication for that myself. There are lots of medicines your doctor can reccomend for that. I used to think I had heart attacks and problems all the time. After I started my meds I got so much better and even sleep better at night. Your doctor can help you pick the right one for you. Good luck. It will get better... |

Also, if you're not on any prescription medication, you might have to try a few different medications at first to get the right combo. I only have one request, don't take Cymbalta. My psychiatrist prescribed this in the beginning and it worked wonders, but then I was prescribed Meridia which cannot be taken with Cymbalta and my psychiatrist told me to stop cold turkey. Let me tell you, the withdrawal effects are horrendous. Now I am tapering off gradually. I wish my psychiatrist or regular doctor would have told me this in the beginning so please don't be afraid to ask as many questions as need be. =) I hope you get to feeling better soon. Please don't think I am trying to scare you. I'm just trying to let you know the stuff the doctors don't want to tell you. =) |

I take medication for panic attacks (zoloft everyday and xanax only when I have a bad attack). A helpful thing to know: No one has ever died from a panic attack. They make you feel like you are gonna die, and it isn't good to keep yourself that stressed over a long period of time (that goes without saying). I don't know how old you are but I am 23 and have had them since I was 14 and until 4 years ago( when I finally agreed to admit that I was not physically sick, and did need Zoloft) my attacks were totally out of control. Right at first the meds made me feel crazy but after about 1 month or so it was like I just woke up one day and was better. I still have panic attacks but I take xanax when I have them and use prayer and I have control over them now instead of it being the other way around. I really sympathize with you so much because they are horrible but you can get your life back and be normal again. If you decide to go the medicated route be careful with xanax because it can be addictive. |

Another thing, I was having my attacks on a daily basis for about 6 months (they would come and go in clusters) and for the past four years I have only had a few of them so maybe that will make you feel better. |
