I remember the way I felt When you slide it perfectly into place On my left hand; my ring finger.
The silver felt cold against my skin And the white Christmas lights hung around my room Reflecting off the pink diamond Centered perfectly in the middle.
I remember smiling every morning Waking up and just looking at it Knowing perfectly well what it meant.
I told you I sold the ring After that fight, I just wanted to hurt you But I kept it I kept it in the perfect white box you gave me
I remember the last time we spoke The coldness in your voice The feeling of my whole being shattering into imperfect pieces
I took the ring out tonight The silver is cold like it was before I tried to put it on my left hand; on my ring finger But time has changed it and it's changed me
It's imperfect

**And yes, this is a true story. Written from my own experience. It still feels a little ... off to me. Almost like it's not quite picking up the emotion I'm trying to express. What do you think?
