Can you name this song for me? David/Fearfactor

My friend heard this song at work, and was only able to give me these snipets of the songs lyrics:

"we can walk these streets of fortune" "if you take away what's mine" "a thousand, a thousand" "look up at the stars" or sun" "it'll be alright" "holding onto you"

see if any of these lines ring a bell? The singer sounds alot like Kenny Loggins supposedly, and therefore is perhaps a male solo artist.

Thanks for the help.

David/Fearfactor
