Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ..... by CaitieAnjel

Hello my lovely USM friends! Some of you know the story, but for those who don't: I was recently diagnosed with an illness called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (commonly referred to as CFS). My dad has been suffering from the same illness for 7 years and I've seen it slowly sucking the life out of him. So now here I am, with the same thing, and a deeper understanding of what my dad is going through. I was just wondering if anyone on here has CFS or any other kind of chronic illness. It would really be nice to set up some kind of online support system, considering the only people in my life I have that understand it are my dad and my doctor. I'm still very young (19 years old)so my friends are here for me, but they don't understand it first-hand. I'm just looking for anyone to talk to. Anyone to offer advice. Anyone to commiserate. =) Anyone interested?

-Caitie

Date: 6/27/2006 9:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 63575    well - I have a lot of allergies - most severe is dairy - sends me in the hospital for internal infections - other than that mmm... alcoholism and drug addiction - tho I have been clean for nearly 8 yrs - as long as I stay away from foods I am alergic to I am generally in good health...
Date: 6/27/2006 10:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 3321    I have Hashimoto Thyroiditis. So...I'm tired a lot and prone to depression and mood swings and can't lose weight easily. Thankfully, they have Levoxyl (basically, synthroid) which keeps my levels fairly regulated.
Date: 6/28/2006 5:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 63725    I am sorry to hear of this but you are on the right track by finding out all you can. There is alot of info on the web and even support online. I have fibromyalgia which has the component of chronic fatigue. So I can relate. It is important to try to stay on a schedule. It can be tough and I admit to napping when I should be trying to stay awake. One of the things I do now is schedule myself to work 8-9 hours so I have to be up. Otherwise if I schedule a short day I am inclined to want to sleep. I am fortunate to be able to schedule less or more hours. You have my shoulder anytime you need it. HUGS Lisa/Peacelover
Date: 7/1/2006 3:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 52489    CFS is a little-understood condition, and is only now beginning to be accepted as a medical condition. For support groups try this link: http://www.cdc.gov/cfs/

Date: 7/2/2006 10:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 63915    I thoguht I had that for awhile. I tried taking vitamin B everyday and it helped a little. Also, just having a pair of sweats and a shirt, throwing them on and going for a walk every mornign, even if a 5 min walk helps. i dont know why but it does.
Date: 7/3/2006 4:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 63725    I agree! The exercise factor is a great help. Gets the circulation going and energizes! Lisa/Peacelover
