Ah! I know the anxiety of which you speak. I used to hate swallowing pills. I always panicked thinking that I would choke on them or something. As of late, I have been taking alot of vitamins, and those suckers can be quite large... I just got used to it after a while.  |

sometimes it hurts too, when going down. Amers, I usually put them in my mouth, and take a big gulp. Usually water will run down my chin, as I alluded to above haha, and wet the carpet or myself.  |

It does stink, I have medicine I have to take every night...sometimes I have to choose which is worse, having the seizures, or taking the medicine to prevent them! I usually decide gagging the pills down is lesser of the two evils. |

I take vitamin supplements and those suckers are some honkin' pills...I take them first thing in the morning and buddy, let me tell you, sometimes it's all I can do to get 'em down. I just put them as far back in my mouth as I can stand it and start gulping some major cold water.  |

Maybe ice cold water is the answer, if you drank really ice cold water first, it might numb the throat which would help the pills go down..I'll try that tonight. |

I did find this out for you guys: The most pills ever taken by one person was 565, 939 by Zimbabwe man named C.H.A. Kilner during the period of June 9th 1967 to June 19th 1988.
That averages out to 73 pills a day...at a length of 2 miles plus a 186 yards long if you laid the pills out end-to-end. |

i have a hard time because i have enlarged tonsils. i cut them in half. i cannot take big dry ones! just take half with a ton of water. i have a gag reflex so sometimes i vomit when trying to take pills!  |

well, yes there is some mental component, but I also think its physical. I believe some people legitimately have gag reflexes, and/or smaller throats. As far as swallowing larger food particles, I'd highly doubt it for a couple reasons a) I'd notice swallowing something larger then a pill, especially not taking any waters with it b) I chew my food very slow, and longer. |

Ok, this might help,I take the pill and take a sip as I would drinking in a regular situation, it might be you're taking too much water thus the spill. OK, both water and pill in your mouth right, tilt your head back so that the pill is at the back of your throat and swallow. |

i've noticed that if i pretend i'm just swallowing food that it will go down much easier. just put it on your tongue and take a drink of water. just don't think about it too much, thats probably why you keep choking it back up.  |

LOL! Oh my goodness, David. You are hilarious! Do you know why I laugh? Because I used to have the same problem. I once thought I was the only one in the world with that problem. I used to chew the pills (yuck! disgusting taste) before swallowing with an insane amount of juice. I preferred the horrible taste than the fear of just swallowing. For some reason, they always got stuck in my throat and I too ended up spitting them out. Do you know what I do now? I bought a pill crusher at Walgreens. It is a pill crusher and it also has a gen that you can use to cut in many pieces the pill. I don't use the crusher. I use the gen to cut the pill in many tiny pieces and they are easy to swallow. You should try that!!!  |

Korn, I have found that thicker liquids help it as far as going down, not necessarily swallowing. Ive crushed the pills before but its time consuming, bitter, and you need alot of applesauce. Dreamer, nows that's skill. People who can swallow dry pills. If they can do that, can they swallow swords, etc.? I guess its the lesser of two evils, PR? David/ |
