I think that if a restaurant owner wants to allow smoking he should be able to. And if people want a smoke free environment they are free to go elsewhere. ![]() |

BCAR, I am in full agreement. Montgomery passed a law where a resteraunt had to be either all smoking, or all non smoking. Most went with non-smoking, but the few that are all smoking are the ones that are always the busiest. ![]() |

It always amazes me that some folks who preach tolerance in all things will go ballistic if you light up a cigarette. Then jump in their 8 MPG carcinogen spewing Mega SUV and take the tots to soccer practice. ![]() |

They just did that about 6 months ago in Chicago too. Smoke never bothered me unless I had a bad headache, but I know a lot of people who are really bothered by it. I do like smoking when I am drinkng and you cant smoke in the bars anymore so that kind of stinks... ![]() |

BCAR you said it all! Non smokers do have rights but "us" smokers should have rights also I mean come on, we do pay taxes on these things and I mean heavy taxes. Oh yeah and I beleive that the same should go for drinking...in a bar ppl drink and smoke and neither is good for you but drinking gets your drunk and that could end up killing you or someone else (if your driving of course) Love and Peace, Kathy ![]() |

They tried to do that in my town a couple of years ago, but it would never pass. I am a non-smoker and I don't like the smell of smoke. So, just as smokers have the right to find a place to smoke in, I use my right to find a smoke free place. ![]() |

Banning smoking is healthier for everyone. But I think it should be up the the owners of businesses if they want to have smoking or not in there establishments. If people who dont want to be around smoke then dont go to places that allow smoking. All those who agree with the ban should all get on the band wagon to ban drinking in public and shut down bars because its killing many innocent people as well. I am a smoker and I 95% of the time dont smoke around people who I see dont smoke, for instance casinos, if I see someone next to me not smoking I will ask "do you mind me smoking". When I go to a resturant I wont smoke because its not like I cant wait till I am done eating or whatever and I WONT smoke around kids. ![]() |

i am a smoker and i believe we need to have respect for those that do not smoke. people like my mother are severly allergic to it. instant migraines...she should be able to attend a dinner or family gathering at a restaurant without becoming physically ill. i am glad they passed this. if i want to smoke i have my car or home. hugs all! also herein newyork you cannot smoke inside restaurants but some bars they allow it in a seperate room closed off. if the bars or bingos lose 50% of business they apply for a permit so now here some bingos went under but you can still smoke at the rest in a seperate room. hugs all! ![]() |

i'm surprised bars wern't one of the first to cut out smoking.. for the fire hazard factor lighting up smokes and alcohol don't mix.. i can respect smokers, but as a non-smoker i feel that it should be safe for me(and my children when i have them) to be out in a very public place and not have to walk through a cloud of someone else's unhealthy lifestyle to get where i need to go(or while sitting down on a bench waiting for the bus) ![]() |

First we're kicked outside. Fine. Ok. I can deal with smoking outside (gives me an excuse to take a break anyhow). Now, they don't want me smoking outside on the sidewalk. They say I can smoke at home or in may car. Fine. Provided that all taxes I pay towards the maintenacne of parks and sidewalks are refunded. If I can't enjoy what I'm paying for, I ain't gonna pay, buddy. ![]() |

I ahve to agree with a lot of post here, a lot of poeple have severe allergies to cigarettes and why should you not enjoy a meal without having to cough up a lung.. even if there is a smoking setion the smoke goes to you anyways, I think its great that they banned any smocking in public place, also it will help kids not to smoke or get influenced by it. Anyways I smokd for too long and I recently quit, and you know what, my clothe smell much better..my hair smell nice and fresh.. I went to a restaurent that is usually pacted so i ate in the bar part and I couldnt really enjoy my meal because of the cigarette, now I actually enjoy it. I love sitting down someone and enjoying a coffee without having the smoke comming in my face.. Plus I live in a city, usualy people dont ask you if you mind if they smoke, they just do it. And as for smoking in bars, I think its awsome also, I mean now you can breathe a bit more when you dance..Yes in some parts it does takes your rights to smoke where you want but do you think theres a limit where the well being of others are affected by your rights? Its true it sucks but a lot of poeple suffer from second hand smoking too.. and now, your children wont be affected by smokers in restaurents.. So I think it was a VERY wise thing for quebec to have passed that law. I am very happy. ![]() |
