The wind ushered in blakened clouds
racing across a summer sky
Crackling lightening flashed brilliantly in
cadence with the cresendo of rolling thunder.
Hiding behind the hazed black curtain
the sun's orb dimmed without pause.
Sandy ground melted in the pouring rain
and the earth became a faint portrait
coverd in haze and fog.
A cool gust and wet mist showered
my face as I looked to the heavens.
I find no retreat but embrace
the relief from the hot summer day.
