Becuase we are working in a family who did not want smoking....however when I came I was not really a smoker, but then I started up again to help another problem....I do not smoke at all around the house where I am working, only when I go out....or when I am alone....but never where I work....or when I am there, so really it should not be a big problem....ahhh i am so silly. |

More of a better question here is What kind of state do you live in? is it an "at will" state than can let you go without cause or not? |

I dont know, but it is, probably because she is not sure if we will smoke when we are alone with the child or something....which neither of us do, because I do not beleve in smoking infront of children.....but its like a reuirement that we dont smoke....strange but true. |

Midnightly, that is true, however I really dont think now is a good time, because since I have been cutting down I have re started other behaviuors which are worse for me than smoking.... |

I've done that before to a friend.. stuff happens, things slip. However, Becky is right, whatever you do off the clock isn't their business. |

I also agree that if you are not smoking around their child that they should not worry about whether you smoke or not. As long as you are not smoking on their property then if you decide to smoke a cigarrette it is none of their business. Some people are so fanatical over smoking though that these people may well feel that it IS their business and then let you go..... who knows? |

well that is true, but seriously, I always try not to smell like I have been smoking, and I even go to lengths sometimes to take a shower even before I get home...LOL...and that costs money. Anyways sometimes things happen.... |

It sucks that you had to lie to the family. If you both quit now then things might not get so sticky. |

i've known people who have had children who are soo highly allergic(athmatic reactions) to smoke they wont allow smokers to come into thier home even if they havent had a cig because of the smell left on them... i guess now is a time to consider what is more valuable the job or smoking.. though how often do you smoke... is it one a week on a stressful occasion... or is it a pack a week |

it more like one or two when I go out, or when I am really stressed...more often than not it is to help with both my eating problems and my SI.....and it often prefents it from happening....I dont need it all the time, but I need to have them sometimes.... |

Don't they have a sense of smell? You'd think they'd be able to smell you if you smoke. |

so i guess now its how often do you go out... if your weekly smoke intake is under.. 4 or 5 a week i wouldn't really call you a smoker in the sense of your typical smoker... because it is very casual... have you tried taking up gum instead of smoking to help with eating? i find chewing gum helps me when i want to nibble and know i'm not hungry |
