We consume, but is it right to buy a treadmill for our dog, I mean having a pet is a responsability, should we buy them a machine to make them walk while we sit down, persnally, I dont think hats right, I mean when you have a pet, it becomes a member of your family. That means, responsibilites to the welfare of that being.

What do you guys think of this? Should we buy treadmill for our animals so they can do their exercise, if we do, why did we get a dog in the first place if we walk them on a treadmill?

Date: 1/27/2006 10:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 16376    No, the dog might not understand what is going and get really frightened. I think walking outside is better for the dog, and good for the owner.

Date: 1/27/2006 10:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 40979    No, I think that if you have a pet....that pet is your responsiblity. YOu should walk the dog, don't buy a treadmill. Man, humans are lazy these days! :-p
Date: 1/27/2006 10:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 30630    That is CRAZY!! LOL What ever happened to putting a dog on a leash and walking them? Excersize for everyone! LOL

Date: 1/27/2006 11:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 63121    Hahaha, I wouldn't get one for my dog. Then she'll miss the joy of seeing outside, eating snow, running when she wants, playing, spending time with me. I love my dog. She is kinda chunky though. But she's in great condition for being 10. She was starting to look like a sausage with legs... so I put her on a wee diet. LOL!
Date: 1/27/2006 11:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 27403    Oh, WOW! You have touched on a really tender spot with me! I am SO against treadmills for dogs. But, I am also against keeping them in the cages that people are putting their dogs into during the day when they are at work!!! I have a friend, actually it is a couple, who have 4 spitz and those dogs stays in their travel kennels (cages) anytime the couple is away from home, and they both work long hours. I heard that people in Europe think it is hilarious and ridiculous that Americans keep their pet dogs in cages. Do people really think that a dog would just sit down and quit walking on a treadmill if their heart rate went up too high? Or if their muscles were sore? Dogs do not do that! They will keep going to please their masters until they drop dead on the spot. As for CAGING your dog so it does not roam around your house while you are gone.......if you can't trust/allow your pet the freedom of your home, or you cannot take the time and effort to train your dog, then don't get a pet!!! It is NOT a mindless, inanimate object to be put in the closet or on a shelf when you do not feel like or are unable to play with it!! Get a stuffed dog if you cannot fulfill your responsibilies as a compassionate loving owner!! Love and Light

Date: 1/27/2006 3:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 62146    uummmm what happened to taking them for a walk around the block =/ I say why not you might as well get exercise while your dose to.
Date: 1/27/2006 3:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 34814    My dog would just chew it up. Then grab her ball and head outside barking. lol
Date: 1/27/2006 4:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    no I dont think its right either but people who have greyhounds that I know use the treadmills to exercise their racing dogs as well as walking them on the roads!
Date: 1/27/2006 7:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 51635    UM.......NO! I agree with most here in that if you take on the responsability then you should keep up with it... you mother asked if you would walk it, feed it, and clean up after it for a reason... If you only want the dog so you have some thing that will love you unconditionaly and have something to pet, get a stuffed animal or take the real dog for a real walk...
Date: 1/27/2006 9:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    a dog needs to run.. you dog needs more exersize then just being walked twice a day.. i dont think it's good to strap a dog to a tredmill and exersize them that way.. they need more then just walking/running straight they need to move around
Date: 1/27/2006 10:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 11348    lol.... no I don't think so.
Date: 1/27/2006 11:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 28193    LOL..My dog would probably chew it up!
Date: 1/28/2006 4:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 53909    I would rather take a dog on walks outside than using a treadmil. That's kind of crazy.
