EL MONTE,CA - A teacher who allegedly tied three third-graders to their chairs was placed on leave while police and school officials investigate.
Police said two boys and one girl in the teacher's class at Maxson Elementary School were allegedly pinned down with computer cords - tied at the waist or legs for about five minutes each - to keep them in their seats on Tuesday. Mountain View School District officials said the teacher, whose name wasn't released, was placed on paid administrative leave while the district conducts its investigation.
District director of special projects Alan Morier said the students involved are still in school.
The Police Department is also investigating the incidents and the teacher could eventually be charged with misdemeanor or felony child abuse or emotional abuse.
