How Have You Changed Since USM? SunAngel

I was thinking the other day that I’ve been at USM for nearly 5 years....

FIVE YEARS! Wow!

And I have changed a lot in that time – not only the sort of person I am (though I don’t think that’s changed too much, just grown up I guess) but how I am living and what I do.

When I joined USM I was 18 years old. I lived at home with my parents, worked and partied all weekend and a few nites of the week. I went on holidays, brought tons of clothes, clubbed and danced like there was no tomorrow. I was single and loved it. I still had semi relationships but had no plans on settling down. I just had fun!!

Fast forward to now. I am 23 years old, have met the love of my life. We brought a house together which we have (and still are!) renovated. We got a puppy beginning of this year. I have changed jobs and am about to start another new job in a couple of weeks time. While I still party, its not nearly as often as it used to be. These days I prefer to stay at home with a nice bottle of wine, nice meal, with my boy, open fire cranking and our puppy at our feet, rather than hit the clubs and roll in the door at 6am (though we still do that on occasions!).

My relationship with my parents has changed a lot too. While I have always got on with them and had a good relationship, now I can honestly say they are two of my best mates. I now see them as ‘People’ rather than parents. They are honestly two of the most awesome people I know. And I am not the only person who thinks that – they have a farm on the river that my friends and I go to regularly and spend the weekend with them relaxing, eating and drinking and water skiing. They are the best!

So yeah, my life and the way I live it has changed a lot. I guess five years is a long time and lots does happen.

Whats happened to you since joining USM? Any major changes??

sunny :)

Date: 9/8/2005 7:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 63191    I would have to say that I felt it was meant to be that I come here to USM. Without going into "gory details" about events in my life these past 6 years, I will say I've been in a "bad place" in my head and heart. Damage had been done and scars abounded. In just less than two months I have seen gradual changes in my own thought processes and have felt more like my self than I have in many years. I owe a debt to George and Ginger I will never be able to repay! USMOM
Date: 9/8/2005 7:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 13546    I have changed so much.. I too have been here for five years.. so I first started coming here when I was 16 years old.. okay wow.. 16?! my goodness.. I am 21 now.. Seems so far away.. Let me see.. I survived through high school, was horribly depressed, conquored my depression, graduated from high school, went out in the working world, worked my butt off, went through many other trials. Met the love of my life right here on this very site, and we are set to be married in 9 days, September 17th in fact!! .. so .. I have grown so much .. its amazing looking back.
Date: 9/8/2005 7:07:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20956    I am glad you found USM, USMOM

Date: 9/8/2005 7:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 15394    Well on the 11th of this month it is my 5 year anniversary... and for those of you that know me, I don't think there is one that can say I haven't changed!! LOL I went from almost completely unable to leave my home, to college to Nursing school... and I am well on my way to a fantastic future... I have change a lot of my views too, and become for sure more self assured, and feel more worthy to express my opinion!! (some of you know that well)... I have been truly blessed to be a part of USM and chalk a lot of my change up to the support I received here from friends I now call family!!
Date: 9/8/2005 7:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 28848    It's been almost five years for me too. I had just purchased my first computer when I found usm..lol. I had to have a computer because I had just started college, which I have now finished, at least until January when I will start working towards my second degree, hopefully. I finally got out of an absolutely horrible marriage. I have my own place and car, at least for now..lol. Um...lots of things have changed. Got a small part time job, and then lost it. Moved several times.
Date: 9/8/2005 8:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 25481    I was 13 I think when I joined...12 or 13...I turn 18 tomorrow. When I joined I lived in Houston with my mom and I was in junior high. Now I am in my senior year of high school. I live with my boyfriends family and I feel like I've progressed in my schooling because I used to just stop caring. I've also accomplished alot of goals I wanted. Ex: Senior Beta Club Inductee, High ACT score, Cheerleader
Date: 9/8/2005 8:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 1065    Next month I will be celebrating my 6th year here at USM. Im not here often but I pop in as much as I can. I was 13 or 14 when I first joined and boy have I changed. I am now 19(about the turn 20) and I have grown up alot. I used to be wild, and loud and now I more calm and relaxed. I went through practically my entire teen years here and I went through every phase that every teen goes through. At the moment I am a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin...thats a long way from the 8th grade.... I've changed for the better throughout these and I couldnt ask for more. ~Sabe
Date: 9/8/2005 8:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 1065    So much has changed about USM over the years but the people are the same and I love that about this site!
Date: 9/8/2005 8:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 11251    My account was made on 6/28/2000, but I rarely used it until a little over a year later. The person I was then had no clue as to who she was. Over the last 5 years I have found myself and my life finally has a direction. I have changed in so many ways that I can't even begin to name them all. I was 19 when I joined, and I will be 25 next month.
Date: 9/8/2005 8:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    I was 14 when I joined.. and I've learned alot about life since then. <3

Date: 9/8/2005 9:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    The end of this month, it will be five years for me also. When I joined I had just found my way back to God again after some bad times. I've learned alot about things here on usm, made many friends. My grandkids have went from only four to soon to be seven and possible eight, we will know this week. When I came to usm, we were basically doing reclamation seed for seed companies, then was managers of a cafe until the people that had it ruined it with their attitudes. And now I work at big rock candy mountain, do the laundry during the day and night manager in the evenings. My husband had three spinal cord injuries so he is on workers comp and SSI now. However our funds are still great, plus we bought our own satilite company.
Date: 9/8/2005 9:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 7574    Congrats on 5 years I haven't changed at all since I joined..lol.

Date: 9/9/2005  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20956    wow, seems like a lot has happened for you Firstborn!
Date: 9/9/2005 2:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 33925    I have been here over four years and when I first found USM I was a bored stay at home Mom..I weighed over 200 pounds, and had no ambition or motivation. I was actually kind of in a depression. Since then I have worked in a lumber mill, a call center and now I am a supervisor at a huge billing center. I weigh alot less than I did, and I lead a more fulfilled life. I also have a confidence in myself that was never there before. I contribute at least a small part of that to USM.
Date: 9/9/2005 6:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 62876    Yes...I am mean and evil now. j/k I am much less likely to judge others, and I feel that I have gained a wider acceptance. Other than that....nothing. I have only been here for a year. Still married, still 2 kids, same home, same job.
Date: 9/9/2005 12:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 12835    Been divorced 6 times and had 10 jobs, all because of USM....
Date: 9/11/2005 4:20:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20956    lol @ St Pete
Date: 9/11/2005 4:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    Nice to see st. pete back in usm town. and Every ONCE in a while we see sixgun.
