Cow poo works wonders (buy it dry, in bags) put about 3 to 4 inches on the area of your garden and spade it in to about 6 inches below original ground. Water often. but you should plant winter squash ... it's kind of late for watermellon. Tars tarkas |

wow, lol how big of a garden you planning on making? do yourself a favor dont use any chemicals to aid in growth, or to kill insects, organic is so much better. |

alot of the things that my father planted he started by putting in small pots in the window in the house, and let them grow to little sprouts, to get an early start, then he planted them someitme around june, also, watch out for potatoe bugs, he would pay my sister an i ten cents per bug if we would go and pick them off the plants, wed pretty much fill an old coffee can, ofcourse, when he saw how full they were, hed back down from a dime to a penny, lol, and then half penny to a quarter penny. |

I have a degree in horticulture from North carolina State University .. It is best to wait to plant your garden until there is no threat of frost in your area.. I son't know where you live so it would be hard to say if you get frost .. lol the other think I saw was people suggesting that you you use cow manure in your garden ...I'd be very careful ..Pathogens (microorganisms which cause disease) can be transferred from animal manures to humans... The pathogens salmonella, listeria and E.coli , as well as parasites, such as roundworms and tapeworms, have been linked to applications of manure to gardens. good luck with the gardening ....c

and in my experience, the manure has never been fresh out of the pooper when we applied it to our gardens, we usually bought it dried and bagged. |
