What Do You Do To Look After Yourself?

Today at work, me and a couple of colleges were talking about our routines and stuff. They were totally shocked about the amount of time i spend on 'looking after myself' as they put it.

I do admit, I have become a lot more conscious of looking after my skin now, while I am 23 so I can prevent damage down the track. I DO NOT want to look 45 when i am 35 - i know that if there was a way to prevent it and i had not, then i would kick myself.

So yeah my morning routine consists of cleansing my face and neck, toning face and neck, a moisturising serum on face and neck, an eye and lip cream, a day moisturiser and then sunscreen over the top. (NOTE: sun damage is the highest cause of ageing).

I also using a moisturising body wash in the shower and then a moisturiser when i get out - i do this EVERY TIME i shower.

At night, i cleanses my face and neck twice (get rid of make up, dirt and pollution), tone, eye and lip cream and then a night cream.

I also give myself a mini facial at home once a week and usually get a professional facial once a month.

I know it sounds like a lot of work but my skin is in great condition, very soft and glowy. It is worth it!!

I am also a stickler for looking after my hands and feet - i get my nails done every 3 weeks and give myself pedicures about once a month. I also do deep treatments on my hair once a week.

I try to jog/run 3-4 times a week and do weights 2-3 times a week.

People at work were gobsmacked at how much time i spend on 'myself'.

I enjoy looking and feeling good and i think it will be worth it in the future and i dont mind taking the extra time.

Am i a 'freak'?? People at work made me feel like one, lol! Half of them are lucky to even wash their faces, lol!!

Anyone out there like me? Or are you the opposite?

How do you look after yourself???

sunny :)

Date: 8/10/2005 10:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 20750    I sort of go through some of that too. Only I do my own nails & feet. I really feel it's worth the time.
Date: 8/10/2005 10:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 60992    Every night I wash my face with warm water.. I prefer not to use stuff on my face becqause eventually I'll stop using it and that means your ace will start to go all pimply and bumpy. So I stick to warm water every night then I use an all natural moisteruizer for arms, face, legs everywhere. In the shower I use for my hair, Hot Oil treatments stays n for 1 minute, then I use Nizoral because chlorine and sea water make my air all dandruff badly and that sits in my hair for 5 minutes, then I use shampoo and since conditionar isn't good to use all the time I condition my hair twice a week and that eget's left in my hair for 5 minutes. I have extremly curly hair and get's dry easily. Then Iput infuisum in after I'm outta the shouwer. I use olay soap thena fter IO use that moisturizer. I don't do my toe nails or fingr tails I just cut them and keep them smooth. I like to work out and get a tan. Love to swim! I don't do very much. I also make sure I drink atleast 2 glasses of Mi;k everyday and try and drink water and more fruit. I have a rule if Id rink pop then I double up on water to flsuh out my system. I hate pop btu I love rootbear
Date: 8/10/2005 10:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 7574    I'm obsessed with putting my moisturizer/sunscreen on my face every morning before I leave the house. I refuse to go outside without it. But as long as my nails and toenails aren't all fungusy, I don't really care what they do.
Date: 8/10/2005 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 61811    I...shower with soap and water and will do a hot oil treatment i found (homemade) every once in awhile..I don't really care for myself. haha I sit on my bum all day and lounge. Oh well, I look great now who cares about later? Everyones gonna look old eventually, so whatever.
Date: 8/10/2005 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 20750    I drink lots & lots of water!
Date: 8/10/2005 11:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    Wow! I take my dog to use the bathroom after I eat breakfast. After breakfast and before I take him out I always take 15 minutes for sunscreening. I put the stuff on and sit for 15 minutes. After I take him to use the bathroom and spend time with him I take my shower and I use Loreal's face wash, but CRIES!!! It's discontinued!!! I can't find it anywhere! I'm talking about the gel kind and it has a citrus smell to it. I'm going to have to go back to equate I guess or find a new brand. After shower, for my face I use Pond's moisturizer and it has SPF (I tore the label off, so I don't know if it is 15 or 45) in it. After shaving my legs I put random lotion on it, there are like 4 different kinds of Bath and Body works lotions here from a friend who worked there, 2 Victoria's Secret pear bottles and Suave firming lotion around and Ralph Lauren's Glamourous lotion (that was a freebie from working a day at Belks)
Date: 8/10/2005 11:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 36646    Well, I do stuff that is similar, but totally different...If that made any sense...I don't do as much with my skin, but I buy the best products that I can, b/c my skin is very sensative. I don't pamper myself much b/c I take care of my 10 month old brother most of the time, but when I go out, it takes me about 2 hours to get ready. I shower and do my skin routine, then my hair (which has to look perfect), and then I spend about an hour or so on my make-up. My cousin is a Make-Up artist and has taught me the importance of blending and making the eyes pop! My eyes take the longest because I do a lot of mixing to get the perfect colors to go with my outfits and skin color. I try to work out when I can, but the baby pretty much takes care of my physical activity. LoL
Date: 8/10/2005 11:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 59385    I remember when i was in school like 5th or 6th grade we had a cancer paper like it said what % of chance you could get each and it had skin at 2%.My teacher came back in the next day and said that was completly wrong its at 20% and this was in the 80's I was like wow.Just a stat about skin
Date: 8/10/2005 11:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 63200    Yikes! I knew I was in bad shape, but now I know what a true slacker I am.

Date: 8/10/2005 11:20:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20956    oh B.Monkey I still find time to play with my puppy before i go to work each morning, just fit it in somewhere between my skin care and breaky, lol
Date: 8/10/2005 11:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    I do the bathrooms with him 3 times a day and it's so so so cute when I do it before I go to bed, awwww I'll go out there, it's usually 4 A.M.ish and he gets out of his dog house (dogloo actually) and he has the sleepy face, it's so cute
Date: 8/10/2005 11:42:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20956    yeah when i get up in the morning i go out side (she sleeps in a kennel next to the back door) and call her name and she pokes her head out and she has sleepy face too!!!! very cute
Date: 8/11/2005 3:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 30747    Wow that sounds like a lot of work. I used to be just like you when I was in my 20s and most of my 30s. Well, maybe not quite so obsessive but I did work pretty hard at looking my best. Now that I'm in my 40s I don't give it much thought anymore. I just wash my face with moisturizing soap and do my own nails. I gotta say that I do look younger than my age. Not to brag on myself or anything but I'm told that a LOT. So maybe it did do some good after all.
Date: 8/11/2005 3:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 16916    My friend is like you! ...me I just don't have time for that stuff! I do moisturize and cleanse my face a shower regularly..as for exercise..chasing the kids I babysit is enougH! LOL
Date: 8/11/2005 6:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 62104    Wow that's great!! I cleanse, tone and moisturise my face everyday but I don't like to do it because it's a pain. I do the mask thing once a week and am getting a facial next week.(my first one..lol, am excited about that!) I use whitening toothpaste everytime I brush to keep my teeth looking white. I only use soap in the shower though, I couldn't be bothered to use the gels..sometimes do but not usually. I don't bother to moisturise after because I can't stand my clothes sticking to me after unless I shave my legs and then I rub lotion on them. I HAVE to moisturise my hands everyday and usually put vaseline on them at night because I wash my hands like a million times and day and they dry out easy. I try to do some yoga daily but I'm deffinetly not a fitness freak. I do need to get into shape though cause after having babies I've lost alot of muscle tone. Guess that's about it. I'm 25 by the way, people always tell me I look so very young..too young to have 4 kids anyway. Good skin and young looks run in my family though. Kinda an insult right now but I guess when I'm 40 it'll pay off.
Date: 8/11/2005 7:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 28848    Wow that's a lot of work...
Date: 8/11/2005 9:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 48250    It may seem a lot of work., but it is worth it....I have always taken care of my skin..,my Grandmother was diligent with her skin care routine..,as well as my etire family are as well...I think it's great, You do this....T/C
Date: 8/15/2005 6:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 62927    When people look at "pretty" people they think that beautiful is handed to the lucky few. You know this is not true. I know it is not true too because I can see when especially girls walk their walking ediquite like modeling, ballet, etc brings more float and grace. Keep up the hard work so other people can appreciate your beauty, Celtic River
