Ok, I am the proud owner of a 1989 toyota pickup sr5. It has a 2 inch lift kit and 31's sitting underneath it. So it is a good wheeling truck. But it has no ain condition1 There is no system in it! With it being 114 degrees farenheit over here in north carolina gees, my air condition is my windows and my rear sliding window! I have heat but now air condition. Weird huh? It has the panel on the inside for the air condition, but no actual air condition. Where can I get a system for it cheap? Say 200 to 600 bucks? - Mr.Nascar-

Date: 7/27/2005 9:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 15228    Probably an auto junk yard. My husband use to get parts for his 92 truck at those type of places. If they don't have the part, often times if you live your name they'll call you if the part you want comes in.

Date: 7/27/2005 10:10:00 AM  From Authorid: 17081    Any that you find at a salvage yard are probably shot anyhow. Some can be recharged. Alot of them will leak. You might be able to seal it. If you do get it at a salvage yard, get a guarantee on it. I bought some refill cans at Walmart for my Cavalier. So far it is keeping it cool. I have to do up the truck now. They have stuff to find the leaks by the way.
Date: 7/27/2005 10:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    Salvage yard is one option. remember that air conditioning units for almost any Toyota in or near your year (truck or not) will probably bolt up. Of course youll have to purge it, charge it etc, and you will pay $150 to $300 just for that service if you take it to a licensed auto A/C place. I'd make an auto A/c shop my first stop and get some advice.

Date: 7/27/2005 1:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 63011    Have you tried Ebay? You can usually find anything on there.
Date: 7/27/2005 1:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    Junkyard...However 89's used R-12 refrigerant..They didn't switch over until '93-'94..So you will have to retrofit it for the R-134a refrigerant
Date: 7/27/2005 2:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    However I would recommend purchasing a new compressor and evaporator, and possibly a new condenser...
Date: 7/27/2005 2:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62163    Pyreil what exactly do I need to buy? -Mr.Nascar-
Date: 7/28/2005 5:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    You'll need a condenser..looks like a small radiator,a compressor,to pump the refrigerant,an evaporator to remove the moisture and all the connecting hoses...You may wanna check under your hood first to see if you even have the wiring required to hook it up..I had an '87 Toyota pick-up came stock with no air,and didn't have the wiring to hook it up..So either way I was either out of luck or had to find the wiring harness someplace...
