When Others Watch
Paint whispers in your conversation
-a simple practice to keep speculation.
Other techniques include leaning,
Sprinkles of silence, and a dash of meaning.
For sure, you must stare into eyes,
Try to look away once in a while of course.
Make watchers guess -- gossip, truth or lies?
Be guarded to show excitement or remorse.
The difficulty of this is to
Acknowledge the observer indirectly.
Perhaps a nod, smile or glance will do.
You have now sustained their interest perfectly.
When the conversation is over,
Go, then, and politely tell the observer
That whatever they observed is, in fact, wrong.
For,
You knew they were watching all along.
