more damaged hair and thinner hair takes color on quicker than thick healthier hair. it could also be the hair around your head has more oil on it and therefore wont take as much. it happens to me that way too. |

it depends on a few factors, are you putting enough dye in evenly? try to put it on slightly heavier then you have been and mixing it into your hair like you would shampoo, the other factor i can think of is the damage of your hair, your hair on the top and around your face tends to get more damaged then the hair underneith because it's open to the elements and it gets the brunt of the brushing and products you use, the other thing that comes to mind is products, is your hair clean when you put the dye on? |

Apply it to your roots first, since that hair isn't as porous and won't take color as quickly or easily as the rest of your hair. |

Meds or birth control could do it. |

Shai Beauty, yes , the hair around my face has more oil. Midnightly, no, my hair wasn't clean when I applied this. I didn't think you were supposed to wash your hair before you put it on. I just now looked on the box, and it said if you wanted to wash your hair first, do it twenty four hours before you applied the color. Aeval, yes, I put it on the roots first. One thing I am probably doing wrong is, not washing out the hair spray from my bangs first, but where this is happening, extends farther than where I would apply hair spray. Release Me, I knew a stylist once, and she said she could always tell who was on "drugs", meaning street drugs, because she said that when she would give perms, the whole roller would come out of their head, with the hair attached!! I think she was talking about cocaine, but I really can't remember now. |

You dont need to dye all of your hair. When I dye my hair, I only do the roots. If you must do all of it, wait until the last five minutes. |
