Rainbow Connection.... mercury

Today’s my birthday.

I sat around moping most of the day... concerned about finances and more than a little irritated that I had to spend the money my mom sent me on groceries, especially since the note inside the card said “This is just for you. No groceries or anything else!” I was also upset that I couldn’t do anything “special” for my birthday since I have less than $10 to my name and my husband’s employer sees no hurry to figure out why our “free money” (unemployment sub-pay) hasn’t yet arrived... 3 days late.

I have plenty to be positive about, but the negativity of our situation hit me like a ton of bricks today.

A little while ago, I realized it was raining. I left my car windows down.... Just another irritation to add to my day.

I found my keys and headed outside to get them rolled up.

That’s when I noticed the sun was shining, too. I grabbed my camera and yelled for the kids, “Come on! We’re going rainbow hunting!”

It was faint, and took a minute to find, but there it was....

How can you continue to have a bad day after that? I think Mother Nature just gave me the best birthday present ever!
