The Legend of Skatman Road

This is one of the most overlooked folklores and urban legends known two the northwest ohio area. this ghost tale takes place in a small town known as north baltimore. many are probably unfamiliar with this road. it is right off of Interstate 75 and dead center between the two larger cities of findlay and bowling green. for those of you even unfamiliar with those its approximately between toledo and lima off of I 75. about oh probably 70-80 years ago putting us arround the 1930s the little town of north baltimore was actually a booming oil producing area and really was probably one of the fastest growing areas arround. trains were a growing industry and although the area was growing fast there were still quite a few farmers in the area, as you can still see today. one particular farmer was a man by the name of julias Scortman. He was a goat farmer who raised goats and sold them off to surrounding farms. He had a wife and one daughter who died of polio at the young age of 12. he was the sole occupant of the road known today as steele road. this road is quite the setting for a haunted tale. those of you readers who have been there know exactly what im talking about. its a long road with one curve and there is vertually nothing on the magority of this road and in fact it is still stone today. The man's farm was directly in the center of a new project going up. the interstate. this man was a stubborn man too, and was not willing to give up his farm. he was told that he haddnt paid his taxes in a number of years and that the state was going to have to take his farm. after a few scares to the local government from his shotgun, it was obvious that this man was not going to give in easily. some say his last words were "let me die in honor and love for my families land and let no one take what is rightfully ours." he kept his promise too his farm and one day several weeks after his wife divorced him for not giving up the farm, the man started his eirie crypt horor trail. this dark tale ends in the sadness of a lonely midle aged man driven into madness by the thought that his farm that had been in his families name for over a hundred years might be turned over to a new family. the man lit the farm up as he slowly burned down his farm hous along with the tree standing beside it, he lit up the garrage and tool shed leaving one thing left to the state. he left his beloved barn which housed his goats. before he lept in to the path of his dark destitude he slit the necks of every goat he had. some say the derranged farmer even drank the blood from his goats. He then hung himself in that barn from a noose some say still stands in this huge white barn. he engraved a last word into the side of the tree next to his house: "He who dares will die" many people have reported odd sightings since this mans death in the early 30s. they have said you can still see the man walking up and down his street at night as a warning to anyone who dares to take the daring steps onto his property. he is said to have on a light flannel sleeved shirt and tattered jeans. there have also been several sightings of a burning farm house just beyond the curve of this road when in fact there hasnt been a house there since julius Scortman burned it down. and the Interstate plans moved down the road about a mile leaving the mans property a gloomy haunted woods. about 20 years later probably arround the 50s this area was used as a camping grounds which shortly closed after opening due to some unreal events taking place and several disapearing campers. some say the mans spirit will hunt and kill anyone he feels has threatened his property. Recently the last part of this tale has been discovered. the man apparently had a truck with one headlight and drove it mostly at night down to feed the goats. this truck has recently been seen following down this dark road any visoters passing by and is said to suddenly disapear into thin air once the man is certain you are of no harm to his property. folklore, tale or just a plan stupid story this place is the real deal watch yourselves and have a good one ~Your worst nightmare
