Out of Body Experience

I am just fascinated by this topic but know little to nothing about it. I'd love to experience this but of course I'd really like to understand it first. After all, the best experience comes with understanding. Any information would be appreciated as to what this is exactly, what it does, and (if there is nothing one could do to make it happen,) how to trigger it. Thanks. "All of us have experienced Astral Projection, whether or not we have cognitively recognized it as such. A more common term for this phenomena is Out of Body Experience (OBE), and studies have revealed that all individuals enter this state of being every evening upon retiring. An Out of Body Experience is the sensation that you are leaving your body and viewing the world from a different perspective than you normally would in a conscious state. During an OBE one always has a clear acknowledgement of "self," which makes an OBE much different than the typical dream. Generally, an OBE will end abruptly, sometimes with the sensation of falling. Some experiences may occur spontaneously during deep relaxation, sleep, or near-sleep. Learning to control an OBE offers the unique opportunity to experience and explore beyond the limits of the physical senses and obtain firsthand knowledge of the very essence of existence. Most people view their duplicate selves the same as they would in the physical world, and the more open an individual is to expanded perceptions beyond the physical world, the more enhanced their capabilities will become." This is a post I read on OBEing. I would love more information on this. ANy would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Usually it will happen in your sleep so you won't know it has happened, and usually you will dream about flying when it does happen. Sometimes you can wake up during it, thats cool when it happens, and don't worry no harm can come to u during it. when you have an OBE it is your soul healing or increasing your spirituality level. If you are stressed and you have one it is to relax you and clear your mind.

Date: 5/22/2005 8:04:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50620    Well why are all these people making posts about different ways to do it, and how to explore the space and all that.
Date: 5/22/2005 8:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 28946    Is OBE the same as Astral Travel?
Date: 5/22/2005 8:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 50678    If it is possible it is very hard to do, you have to be very experienced in ESP and everything, I mean you could try your whole life and will never be able to control it unless you are that experienced/powerful. Its not an easy task. Its kind of like you willl only see spirits when your ment to, but if you learn to control your third eye you can see them whenever. You would have to practice everyday for at least 5 years and then maybe you would be able to control a OBE. So it is possible but very rare.
Date: 5/22/2005 8:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 50678    Penny no, OBE is when you stay connected to your body so you don't really leave the room, OBE is also called Astral Projection, but when you do Astral Travel like flying around the Astral plane you aren't connected to your body. I think.
Date: 5/22/2005 8:46:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50620    and also I've read that lots of people experience something called sleep paralysis while attempting to OBE. This sounds scary and painful, something that one would not want to experience.
Date: 5/22/2005 9:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 50678    its much safer*
Date: 5/22/2005 9:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 50678    what is sleep paralysis, I'm guess that only happens when you force it, because you say attempting. I think when it comes natural is much safer.
Date: 5/23/2005 1:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 16721    Sleep paralysis, something not cool to experience at all, its like when you see everything in the semi contious stage. You tend to see everything in the room and you cannot move at all.its scary a bit even if you get used to it , because usually when you have it , there is a feeling of something that presses in your head but its not like a hand or something its like pressure .
Date: 5/23/2005 9:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 50678    Well when I woke up during my OBE, I was scaried, I couldn't move, and I could see everything, but I didn't have the pressure thing. I just thought it was normal.
Date: 5/23/2005 6:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50620    I've even heard of some who experience hallucinations during this "sleep paralysis".
Date: 5/24/2005 1:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 36754    sleep paralysis is when your mind is awake and your body isn't. You are aware of your surroundings. You usually don't see things, only shadows. You can also hear a smell things. I usually hear a loud buzzing sound. You feel like you are vibrating also. The best thing for you to do is not move and relax... Tell yourself that you are fine and to wake up. People confuse this stage of SP with the feeling you get right before you OBE. I believe that they aren't the same, even though some might disagree. SP happens with everyone. Yes it is scary and it hurts, but once you know what is happening it no longer has that effect. SP shouldn't prevent you of tring to OBE.
Date: 5/24/2005 6:18:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50620    How does it hurt? What makes it hurt?

Date: 5/25/2005 3:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 36754    no clue...
Date: 5/26/2005 12:13:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50620    Oh.
Date: 7/6/2005 5:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 62606    Lil playa: It's not so much that sleep paralysis hurts, it's that it's extremely uncomfortable and scary not being able to move or have control over your body.
Date: 7/27/2005 7:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 63183    One time I was critically ill and gave up on living. I was in so much pain from 3 major surgeries. It was about 9 pm and I was lying on my back when all of a sudden I felt such peace come over my body. My body elevated from the bed, I could not move anything, nor speak or turn my head. My roommate knew something was wrong. She tried to talk to me or to get me to move. She called the charge nurse which called the surgeon. He stopped all my medication and said I was just hallucinating. Well, I had been on the same medication for sometime, so I knew it wasn't the medication. The next morning I woke up, bathed, combed my hair and put makeup on - the first time in days. I had absolutely NO thereafter. I have never experienced anything like that before, or since. It was such a peaceful feeling. I was floating out of my body looking down upon the body in the bed. A voice told me I would alright and the pain would go away. AND, it did. Can't make sense of it since then. By the way, I am a nurse of many years and have never had a patient do that to me.
