On the way to New Orleans ~Aradia~

My husband and I were on our way to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. We were in front of my parents and along the way my hubby ended up losing them. I remember everything so clearly. We were listening to limp bizkit and everything was going so well. It was so pretty outside, my husband and I were getting along great, and we were ready to party. Well while we were on the big bridge right before the Houma exit, (and if anyone knows what bridge I am talking about, they would know that this is a pretty well packed high energy bridge:)we were hit from behind by a little pickup truck. I saw it comming at us, he was going about 60 miles per hour. We were going a little slower checking out the exits. Oh by the way, I forgot to mention to you that there is a bayou below the bridge, but luckly we didn't go over. My husband screamed out loud "Oh God! Watch out!" Then he held onto me. It ended up not being as bad as I thought, but the impact was horrible. I thought I was gonna die. While my hubby got out to talk to the other guy, I sat waiting for my parents to pass while crying. I couldn't feel my back. Then the thought of my spine possibly sticking out of my back came to mind. That really freaked me out, so I made my husband check, but that wasn't the case - thank god. I had only pulled a muscle. The guy who was driving said that he was reaching for his cell phone and didn't see us in front of him. You wanna hear the real kicker to this story?? Before we left Wal-mart and wasn't long from the accident, I forgot to put my seatbelt on. My husband had reminded me to put it on before we left the parking lot. The reason I was so sore was because the seatbelt jerked me back. If I hadn't had my seatbelt on, I would have went through the windshield.

How it changed my life:

It was definally a wake up call. I was going through some drama in my life and the wreck (even though it was small) made me realise that life was more important than I was thinking at the time. ~Aradia~ P.s. I still got to party for Mardi Gras.

Date: 12/10/2006 2:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 63962    Wow. It's crazy how quickly and unexpected an accident can happen! LOL We just have to go through life on trains, planes, cars, buses, and other modes of travel, just not thinking about the risks and try to be as safe as possible then just hope something never happens, I guess. LOL
