I don't blame him either!! When upper management doesn't respect you, why respect them? It makes for a bad work environment. |

I agree with you. I have noticed many Manager types, usually assistants of some sort, that get on these power trips and treat everyone badly. Why aren't these people fired or demoted? At the hotel I used to work at, we had a sales manager like that. And I swear, every single new person they hired quit because of him. I knew how to handle him and ignore him, but no one else did and they were losing employees left and right, all because they had a bad sales manager who could easily have been replaced. |

Well..seeing as how I am currently a manager at Mc Donalds...that is just rediculous. It really is. We are taught to take their word for it in good confidence. However if it becomes a trend THEN we do tend to ask questions. NEVER accuse. |

Well I think like you've stated in pass posts about finding work in your area and not being able to that, I would suck it up and deal with it but look for something on the side. If you are having trouble he will as well. $6.50 is better then nothing. Noone deserves to be treated like poop at a job but ya never quit without another job lined up unless of course you don't need the money. |

Seems you can't win, eh Pre? I mean, if the same person had came in with the flu, coughing and sneezing and spreading germs and all sorts of people got sick, they'd be complaining and asking him why he came in sick. Dang if you do and dang if you don't. I'm quite certain that the OWNER of the establishment would not want people coming in sick. Some employers require a notice from a doctor, but how can someone get a notice from a doctor if they can't afford to even go to a doctor in the first place. Yeah, I would have left too, but I would somehow get to the owner, write a letter or something. That assist manager is wrong and should get some additional training or fired. |

Wifey, what is worse is the head manager said she would work with my friend to deal with these problems...Please the problem is that there is management that is not properly trained and have big heads and think they are untouchable. I like the phrase..Work don't fire you, you fire your employer when you quit. |

Thinker, no one will speak up about the Assistant, because he lets the employees do as they please. But I told him to contact the area manager and then he will see action. The area manager is known for doing spot checks on stores when complaints of the management start coming in even if only one that is to many. |

One of the first rules I learned as a supervisor, is that you never berate someone who works for you in front of others. You always do it in private. This managers actions were totally uncalled for just based on that fact. Also, if a person comes in with a valid excuse, you accept it, unless you know beyond a shaodw of a doubt that it is a lie. In this case, the manager had no evidence to suggest the person was lieing. |

No manager should discuss one employee with the other employees. That should go to corporate and to the manager. However, there are hundreds of kids lookin for jobs and the asst. will continue to do this as long as he gets away with it...We got rid of a manager at Tuesday Morning by letting upper managment know what he was doing. Tell your friend to report him... DreamWisher |

I agree completely. I'm an asst. manager for a fast food place. There is never a reason to yell at an employee especially in front of other employees and customers. Even if the asst. thought your friend was lying. Sounds like the asst. had a different beef with your friend and used this as an excuse to yell (poor reason for doing so in my book though). |

I would and have done the same. I've had to deal with people like that before. Standing there in front of them litterally looking like i belong in a hospital bed and still accusing me of not being sick(and that time ended up going to the emergency room and being admitted to the hospital). I hate pe4ople like that. seems they have nothing better to do. |
