For years I waited for a friend like you
One of total care, one of total truth
You may hide your thoughts, your feelings too
But when we spend time, the truth comes through

You wanted someone that would listen when you talk
Someone that cared about your life, not you faults
Someone that would sit by your side when you needed a hand
A true friend that would not stab you, and come back

You helped me from a darkness, that I could not find the light
You brought me back to the living, when death was in sight
I can count on you to take the pain away
No matter when, you keep happiness coming my way

For two years we were never apart
Then four months passed, never seeing each other at heart
In that time feelings grew, the friendship grew stronger
And time started to stand still

When we are together, the laughter ensues
We joke and talk, smile and grin
Some people even think we are together in sin
We are just friends, bound by fate
Destiny has it, that we will never hate

If one day we become more then friends
I can see the future shining, whilst we grin
We are perfect together, as some have seen
BUt they can not understand why you can't be
