Of Little Consequence pt 1........Autopilot

"I am what I am!" someone dear to me
Once shouted, and at this I thought
You lie, change is inevitable
Nothing is constant
Everything evolves, yet we
Stubbornly cling to the notion
Of consistency, of planting
Our feet solidly upon the ground
Yes, we are fools
To make statements
To believe assumptions
To stereotype
and don't deny it
we all do it
We are all narrow,
empty and troubled
You know it, I know it
So instead of blunt denial
Accept change and allow it
To make you more then you are
It's all of little consequence
Anyway
You're not what you think you are
No one is as we think they are
Humanity is more simple and complex
Then we think it is
Suffice to say
Perhaps heroes are tyrants
But then who are heroes?
Tyrants?
Mayhap
Hitler tried to rationalize
His evil deeds
I'll bet he did a fairly good job
Convincing himself he was doing right
We do it, too, not at the same deadly level
but we do......we all lie
knowingly, willingly, for security
maybe Attila wasn't such a bad man
though certainly he was savage and sadistic,
I'll bet he was a fun guy
To chill with at a pool table
(Did they even have pool?.....ah well, of little consequence)
We should learn to adapt to situation
You know what I'm saying?
Theres alot of you, you don't know about
So stop whining
Quit your bellyaching
Enjoy it while it lasts, you might as well
And come shoot a round of pool, yeah?
(I don't own a pool table......ah well.....of little consequence)

I find myself not amazed...I was amazed at your talent after the first time I read your work ...but this is humbling...I was mesmerized.
