Empty Offers......................~Silver Alexis~

I am alone
Many offer;
a hand, ear, shoulder
I smile thanks and feel
lucky in the caring.
But how silent and absent
they become if I actually
need them.
A few stay - the offer real.
How the darkness begins to fade,
the screams of demons begin
to quiet in the perception
of trust given.
But ask one too many times;
Hold, cling a little to much,
shed a tear when they are
busy or happy -
Dare to be me, reaching out,
hoping for once someone will
give back what I give to them;
How quickly I find myself
deserted...but with a smile
and a quick hug or kiss ~
"I'm with ya"..."I got your back"
"I will always be there"
echoes as they walk away knowing
I will be understanding and my
strength will see me through;
and I realize as my trust
and faith shatter...
I am alone.

Date: 2/16/2005 4:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    This is so heartfelt and sad..no matter how surrounded we may seem, sometimes we find who our true friends really are in the darkest moments that you have described Alexis..and it wrenches at us when we feel as if we have noone and that those "friendships" are so superficial...I feel your pain and I wish that I could stretch through this computer and hug it away!! Keep smiling sweetie..
Date: 2/16/2005 4:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    One more thought..so long as you have this wonderful gift that you have been granted in being able to express yourself so eloquently in your poetry..you will NEVER be alone as you take us on a journey into your heart, soul, and mind when we read..

Date: 2/16/2005 4:46:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63041    Xylanthia...so sweet and warm are your words. And no worries, I felt the hug. I share to get it out...and to hopefully give someone the sense of not being alone...we all have these moments...but if we're lucky...someone...or lots of someones *USM is so big* hears us...and the light breaks through the clouds. Thank you dear heart ~hugs tight~
Date: 2/16/2005 6:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 42792    I feel this way almost every darn day of my life. There are givers and there are takers and very rarely there is balance. I think I am naturally a giver, seeking balance. Givers are attracted to takers and vice versa. The solution is to try to find balance. Balance that never seems to present itself or when it does, you're too busy giving to a taker to recognize it and wow, I am so sorry for hijacking your post...
Date: 2/16/2005 6:33:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63041    LOL..no sorries NKA...it isnt a hijack...what you just replied with is why I post. My words touched you, or made you ponder...it meant you found something for you in them. That is why I share....feel free to hijack my post anytime.
