What are the chances of this? -- Mike

I just thought of something recently, and the thought of it horrified me. Yet I realized it could happen, however unlikely the event might be. What are the chances that USM would have a major system crash/failure due to computer virus or some other internet related catastrophe such as hacking or problems backing up? This might cause USM to be down for weeks or even months, and in a worst-case scenario once it was brought back up our stories may all be gone! I know we've had minor USM system failures in the past, but what do you think the chances of a major one like the one I described are? I hope they are remote!

Date: 2/12/2005 11:00:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13886    Yes, but I still don't think its ever happened to the extent that I suggested in my worst-case scenario, months (not weeks) of offline time and losing all USM's stories.
Date: 2/12/2005 12:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 38406    It probably will happen again if it already happened before but lets hope not!
