Something I need to know...

Okay, I know profain language is forbidden on this site, but some words I'm really questioning. I combed through a story I was going to post in the strictly fiction section, but it supposedly had a cuss word, which I could not find, for the life of me. And if I try posting it one more time and I get caught for "profain" language, I'll get kicked off the site. But what I did find was that the last name of a horror king, Alfred Hitch.... was a cuss word. That's the reason I got the boot that one time...because I put that in a story and it was ruled out as a cuss word.

To the admins, I need a list of words I can't use. PM me and I'll give you my email address. I need to know this so I don't get kicked off again. Plus, I want to be able to submit things without worrying about this. Maybe raise the bar for how many times you can submit something with "profain" language before you get kicked off? Like give it five times before the would-be poster gets the boot?

Date: 2/11/2005 10:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    I can already tell you why it's a banned word...think about it!!!!
Date: 2/11/2005 10:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51070    I know why, but a last name? Hmmmm. I wonder what type of jokes people made up on the schoolyard about his last name. "Shudders" But yeah, it kept coming up as a profain word when I tried submitting a story, and I got kicked off for a few weeks because of it.
Date: 2/11/2005 10:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 57074    I really don't see why they would ban someones last name..thats just going overboard with the whole g-rated thing
Date: 2/11/2005 10:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 53360    thats just rediculous! now come on admins..someones last name? ......
Date: 2/11/2005 10:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 62971    I know what you mean.I got kicked off the site for the same thing.I need a list of words to.LOL Arc Angel
Date: 2/11/2005 10:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    The way the filter is setup,it catches the bad words, not variations of them..So even if a word is a variation such as Alfred's it's only seeing the bad word in that, and rejecting it...
Date: 2/11/2005 10:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    LOL and don't blame the Admins..We have no control over how the site is setup, only what is posted..or sent over the site
Date: 2/11/2005 10:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 7574    lol..I hit the random stories button a lot and some of the comments on those stories are definitely not g-rated at all...
Date: 2/11/2005 10:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    I don't think the filter is set to catch comments, only what is posted in the stories, and in chat..
Date: 2/11/2005 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    It's good that you have asked this question hun, Pyriel has explained to us how the system works, now for the people who get upset about having their works deleted...its not the Admins fault.....we all know now!!!! hugs
Date: 2/11/2005 10:58:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51070    But I understand why swear words are cut off. I mean, seriously. People have gotten in arguments on this site, I'm sure. Things would get ugly had we the privilege to swear.
Date: 2/11/2005 11:06:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51070    It's kinda sickening how idiotic people in the world turn every day words into dirty, filthy words. Soon, we won't even be able to say the word "orange" or "coffee" without someone turning it into something to do with the body or parents creating babies, if you know what I mean. People these days have dirty minds. It's a shame they have to ruin it for everybody else. But yeah, I understand the system totally. It's not the admins fault a bunch of dirty, filthy pigs in the world turned common words into cuss words.
Date: 2/11/2005 11:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 53961    Good luck! I used to get kicked off all the time when I submittted birthday posts until I quit using famous birthdays! lol! It was strange! It's the protection software. I doubt there is a list. Just have to watch what you copy and paste in.
Date: 2/12/2005 2:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 42945    I was just reading a post from Flame On where he is discussing birds who were drunk on certain berries crashing into a building...he used the name of Alfred Hitch....(the full name) to describe it as being like the film Birds....so now I'm confused, you couldnt use the name but he can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*shakes head*
Date: 2/12/2005 6:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 38406    That's messed up! I read posts and replies all the time here that are not g-rated!
Date: 2/12/2005 9:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    Did you maybe have a space in between Hitch and the rest of it? I could see how that would set off the filter.
Date: 2/12/2005 12:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 12118    LOL, I remember back in the day when you didn't have to be a member to reply, and people left some HORRIBLE comments. I like the filter, and I don't think it's too over-zealous. There are, after all, a couple of evil step-sister sites to USM where you can put whatever you want and USM'ers can still see them. If you think these would be better suited for you and would reach the audience you want, you may be better off trying one of those.
Date: 2/12/2005 3:35:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51070    I like this site a lot and I'm glad we can't swear. Who knows what might happen if we were allowed to? :O Some people would go gung-ho on tearing others down. But the last name of someone? Come on...
Date: 2/20/2005 8:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 58078    This happened to me once as well...I wrote a post and couldn't for the life of me find a cuss word. Finally I gave up on the post and just deleted it. But yet I've seen damned lately which shocked me. I don't know..I'm all confussed...lol If you get that list pass it on along..lol
Date: 6/22/2005 12:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 63161    yea, I agree, I tried posting a story that had nothing really bad, about a father telling son something that i can't say or i might get in trouble, but not saying who, there is another usm person who puts things with a lot worse things but don't get in trouble, its unfair to some of the users.. So i really agree with you.
