Looking out into the distance
I see this shining light
burning deep through my retinas
slicing my skin
piercing my soul.
This light, brilliantly bright
has stood with me for centuries
guiding me, allowing me to feel
yet, it has never shone so strong.
Rushing inside every nerve in my body
my world, established, placed, routine, ordered
balanced
is now shaken from its pedestal
thrown into an abyss of confusion.
All this, all this
caused by a wondrous light shining through
whose presence brings the relief of ages.
And I, lost in a sea of feeling
