Update - 216th Engineering Battalion parade!...HipChik

Today the company that I work for (which is a substantial sized company - probably 3500 people in the buildings) is asking us to walk out to the front on the building to wave to the 216th Engineering Battalion, troops returning home from Iraq. We have a huge "Welcome Home" banner on the front of the buildings.

No matter what you think of this war, these young men and women deserve all the praise that they get, and then some.

Call me a goofball, but I am so excited :D:D:D

***Update - They just came through. The firetrucks were on either side of the street with their ladder meeting and in the middle was a huge American Flag. There were camera crews all over the place, and they had music playing "I am glad to be an American" song. It was a very emotional experience. Leading the front were police cars from every precinct in the area. The soldiers were in huge buses, but there were a few riding as passengers, and some of them took the flags from us to wave. God Bless them, and all our troops still not home.

Date: 2/11/2005 6:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 62881    That's Great, Hipchik! Yes, regardless of anyone's feelings about this war, we are in it. Our military men and women had no say and are doing their jobs as they are trained and instructed to do. They need our support and to know we care about them...***WAVE A FLAG FOR ME!!!!....Green Eyed Froggy
Date: 2/11/2005 6:39:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62876    I know I am a silly butt, but I am all emotional. I will probably stand out there with frozen tears stuck to my face...BABY, IT'S COOOOLLLLDDD outside!
Date: 2/11/2005 6:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 62881    Nothing silly about being emotional over something like this. Fort Benning is nearby and they have parades and things like that before a batallion leaves and when they come home. I watch them on TV. A local station airs it. I cried just watching them on television...the soldiers leaving and having to say goodbye to their families, the soldiers returning home and seeing their families again after (sometimes) a year. It IS emotional and anyone with a heart would feel for these people. I know I do...Green Eyed Froggy
